Pan. Cam (var sandose)
    #18414695 - 06/13/13 06:59 PM (10 months, 4 days ago)

Hello.

I have been growing cubes for years and now decide to grow Pan. Cam (var sandose)
I already make a bulk (OK) and now cased the bulk, my question is about

Air exchange
And mist the casing

How often? like cubes?

thanks!!

Cubes will tolerate more CO2 than Pans, so you really have to stay on top of your fanning.

With your misting, 3-4 times per day will do. Just DO NOT mist the pins. They will abort if you do.

OK, Thanks for the quick reply!

i have found contradictory info,

from the Pan FAQ in this forum

How do I proceed after the substrate is colonized?

Colonize substrate completely, wait 24 hours. Case with 1/4 inch or less of casing soil.(I just use bagged peat and bagged perlite or vermiculite and mix them myself.) Bring up to field capacity by lightly misting if necessary. Let it incubate in the dark(covered with a layer of aluminum foil) for 24-48 hours, and place in fruiting chamber. Avoid misting !! Wait till day 5 from casing, and start fanning at least once a day manually. When the first pin forms I usually stop fanning for 24-48 hours until many pins form. Then start fanning at least 1 time a day manually.
I prefer a small tray. I have seen no advantage to using trays deeper then 3 inches with Copelandias. Yields are actually reduced in bulk, relative to efficiency of smaller trays.

Yeah, the main page is mostly outdated info. Do some searching on the forums, and take note of when it was posted.

You can use a dropper instead of a spray bottle to keep the casing layer moist.  Just drip water on the casing around the pins watching not to drown the pins.

And fan as usual.

24 hours the situation is this, the casing layer seems to cover VERY FAST!! i am nos shure that this is good, a iam worried about the overlay.
Can I re-casing if the Casing covered 100%?

IME overlay isn't much of an issue with pans.

yes it's normal for it to colonize fast because of how shallow it is, thats y most apply it and toss it right into fruiting
