Is ignorance bliss?
    #314434 - 05/11/01 12:21 AM (22 years, 11 months ago)

ok, heres the question. If you could, would you live in your personal perfect world if it was fake? You could chose to go there in your mind, maybe something like the matrix, but you would no longer be conciously living in the "real" world that we currently inhabit. Also going to there would require you to forget everything about this world. You would be living in happiness and contentment forever, ignorant to the fakeness of the situation. So, yes, what would your choice be, and why?

Why do you think I do shrooms??? Sometimes higher learning is a contradiction. You can open your eyes and blind yourself at the same time.

Well, im not exactly sure what this world is. So i cant tell you. If something is so real to you it _is_ real, then i guess it is, and hte fact you forget everything about anything else there is would just make the world so much more real. i dunno. In a perfect world, wouldnt you know everything, like how you got there?

well thats part of the question, its not the perfect world, its your perfect world. as for knowing how you got there, I dont see how knowing that you were living a lie would make it better, but I suppose you could have that if you wanted. personally if I chose that path I would not want to know that I was living in anything but reality and the truth.
Also on the topic of "what is real to you" we have to assume that this world is the default real one, even though some may have opnions otherwise.

ashaman, for me ignorance is not the bliss cause it denies me as a higher being, than just an hedonistic animal.
That is the same reason why I ignore mood drugs.

reality has no ther definition for this question other than "here." Where we are now will be the reality default.

I don't understand. If reality is "here/now/that which you see", then how can something you see and feel be fake? What's fake about the "fake" world, and if it's perfect, then why won't you want to live in it? And also, what exactly is a "perfect" world?

the here, now, what you see is real, the there, then, what you see after you made such a decision would be fake. Perfect is your interpretation of it, total contentment perhaps.

All of us live in our own world. The world we perceive it. How we see things is a reflection of our mind. We all perceive the world differently. Some see it as evil some as a happy place. Ultimately its your own mind that sees it that way. Not everything works the way we want it , but it is seen the way we see it.

Ignorance; RATM got me into politics in a way. 15 years or so later, knowing, is what gets me into trouble most of the time. They say the race logic runs is limitless. I've watched the world crumble. I don't get a choice these days, but if I could just shove a crayon up my nose I'd really consider that a serious option.
