Mushroom ID: Ohio find with pics
    #18258528 - 05/13/13 05:57 PM (1 year, 5 months ago)

Habitat:I found a them beside a horse pasture in some weeds/lightly wooded area. They were growing in the dirt, not on any wood or anything.

Gills: They're light tan/white. not sure if attached.

Stem:
none more than 2 inches long, most an inch or shorter. hallow. relatively thin.

Cap:
Biggst a little larger than a silver dollar and turning flat-ish compared to the smaller domed ones. When first picked they were a medium brown color, but now, an hour later, are turning tan/light brown to white.

Spore print color: In the process of taking them now, will update later.

Bruising:
No noticeable change.

Other information:
I'll post some images of them.

Multiple mushrooms in one pic, multiple angles:

top and bottom view of one of the medium sized ones starting to become less domed:

By no means sure, but I'm thinking a Psathyrella along the lines of P. candolleana...

Edit: Ganzig beat me, and by the way - I prefered your ID request before you edited it when the pictures were already displayed.

Thanks, and sorry, it messed up the website for me when I had it that way. It made everything look weird, I thought it might mess up for other people and I didn't want to get in trouble.

I take it, these are poisonous, not good for a trip, and should be thrown away?

They definitely won't make you trip. They probably aren't poisonous, but they could be and aren't worth eating.

Psathyrella candolleana is actually a cancer fighting edible, but I wouldn't eat it unless you're really sure.

Here's a pizza with some on made by user Cactu from here:

But no Psathyrella species are trippy so chuck em!

Thanks fellas, I'mma toss em in the trash. I found them while I was waking my dog, so, they weren't that far away so it wasn't as if I wasted that much time. Thanks! I'm sure I'll be back around here posting at some point.
