I have made it work inside, I have some level of control over the environment indoors so I got results faster, I have repeated the process outdoors but will have to wait for the temperatures to drop enough before I will know if it has been successful. I kept the indoor containers fruiting well past the end of the season by placing wet towels over the containers with one end of the towel sitting in a container of water so they stayed damp all day. This kept the temp in the containers lower than the ambient air and kept them humid and damp inside while also allowing some light through the towels into the container. This is what has caused them to begin fruiting early this year as well.

Last winter I was dropping stem butt cuttings straight into plastic bags of pasteurized woodchips and then just stuffed them in a cupboad and left them alone for a month or 2, ended up with about 20kgs of woodchips with mycelium growing through them. It took a while to distribute it all outside but so far the places I have been back to check on are looking sweet as.

Haha last night I had a dream where I was picking subs aswell, I have them very often so I wasn't too disappointed when I woke up.

It's looking like subs will be poppin up in Auckland pretty soon maby annother couple weeks.

Over here in west AUS it got cold and wet then started to heat up again :frown: it's been soo hot over here we have to wait at least annother 3 weeks.

not G. luteofolius...

consider G. dilepis or G. purpuratus...

it's highly debatable whether or not luteofoilus occurs in New Zealand.
my guess is, no...

Are dilepis identified as growing in NZ and are they active? I dont think they are them, these are definitely active gyms.

I believe my collection linked to below is G. luteofolius although I have no herbarium collection from this find for further study, this was fruiting way out of our fungi season which is a good indicator that it is an introduced species here.

I still cant find the info on whether dilepis are active or not. Maybe you could help me summarise the paper, as far as I can tell its very hard to tell what I have without a microscope but both are active. Or am I wrong?
