The LC I shot up 2 days ago with South American is already showing signs of germination. Whereas the Koh Samui into LC took 10 days to show signs of life. I have heard that South American is a fast colonizer relative to the other strains. Based on what I have seen so far, I would say that is true.

Day 24.... everything is FUCKED and this is frustrating... about 6 days ago, so i set the jars away for consolidation, went to check on them today and i believe i see contaminations... FML
All the South American jars have pins
and all the pins have fuzzy white stuff growing on them, which i believe is mold?
i took a look at the Golden Teachers, i believe i see contamination as well...
and it seems that it is where the inoculation point is, these 2 images are from the same jar
now i have to start again... god damn it... i need to build a SAB

that's from not having fae. i think most ppl would suggest just growing them invitro now that they are. i however see no contams.

i might be wrong but isn't the fuzzy white stuff growing on the mushrooms in the jar contams? i think i also see some grey looking stuff, but will not be able to have a better look until i can get my SGFC going. I don't want to open the jars, just in case that the cakes still might be good to fruit
and also, i think that the growth in the jars should look like the bottom half, ropey, instead of like the top half, fuzzy=contams???

Why have you not birthed them?
There's no contam (IMO) but you're seriously lowering any yield by keeping them in the jar when they're trying to fruit like that.

Aside from the invitro pinning, they actually look quite healthy....However, from the look they need to be birthed. It does not look to be a contamination so much as the mycelium saying "we need fresh air". Do let us know how it goes. Id love to see this turn into a success story.

sometimes they do just pin in the jar, had it happen to me once but i cought it early and just birthed.
However, if your seeing pins and they are obviously not finished colinising, then you could have a problem,#
One of your pics in an early post showed the bottom of the jar with a portion not colinised. Being that its the bottom, it may just have gotten to compressed to colinises, but it could be bacteria, the edge of the mycelium does look solid (as if it ran up against a wall, had this happen too)
Also are those tall half pints? or pints. You get less problems when sticking with 1/2 pints that are taller than they are wide when working with the pf tek,.

I'd dunk but maybe not roll. If they're not 100% just do your best to wash away the uncolonised bits.

couldn't get to the jars until i got back in town last night. did manage to get my SGFC up this morning
1/4 inch holes @ 2 inches apart on all 6 sides
went to grab the jars from my closet. The Golden Teachers looks ready for their dunk and roll. they are showing some pins.
and i am wondering what to do with my jars of South American?
should i birth the cakes, remove the stuff that's growing and do a dunk and roll? i would appreciate advice on what to do with my SA jars.

I'd just start fruiting, maybe with a bit of verm top and bottom of the cake. Don't dunk but mist heavily for a few days.
That'd be my amateur approach to that 'problem'

Hey GoldenArrow, should i remove the fruits on the SA cakes or just leave them as is in the SGFC?
I'm dividing my big bag (2 cu. ft) of perlite that i picked up from Lowes into my SGFC and looking for a bucket to dunk my GT cakes
Side note, upon closer inspection, there seems to be some kind of a discoloration in the South American jars, I won't be able to have a clearer view until i pop all the caps on the jars.

I'd leave the pins on, hence the no roll or dunk. Some will say you can dunk them, but I wouldn't risk it for pins that size.

i have friends visiting from out of town, won't be able to get to the crazy pinning South American jars till tomorrow.
but did manage to birth the Golden Teachers, all the cakes smells like mushrooms when they were cracked open, a good sign. A total of 7 cakes, 3 jars have yet to finish their growth...
they are being dunked now. i gave the ones that fell off when birthing the cakes to my buddy and he ate them, lol
the SGFC is up, rolling and fruiting tomorrow
