Epsom/Rock Salt?

Ok so my buddy got a gram of what was supposed to be dope for 60 dollars from someone who happen to come by it. First off when I seen it, it just looked like some low purity crank or something. But when we put some in a bowl and heated it, it bubbled and kinda foamed and became hard. A torch lighter wouldn't even melt it. But before we did that we snorted 50mg each and didnt feel anything so we did another 50mg and still nothing really. Maybe a little placebo effect but nothing like real dope. Anyways, it barely burnt snorting it and I didn't even taste the drain which was another bad sign. Here are some pics of it. first is of 300mg, second is of ~60mg halfway crushed, last is of it fully crushed. I believe it could be either Epsom or rock salt, what do you think?

Epsom salt is hydrated magnesium sulfate. For every molecule of MgSO4, there are seven molecules of water. When you heat it, the water is driven off until the salt is anhydrous. What you described that happened in the pipe is exactly what you would expect with Epsom salts.
Rock salt is not hydrated, so it wouldn't have bubbled.

Well the epsom salt I have in my bathroom is really tiny crystals, these are larger. Maybe there's large crystal epsom salt?

If you dissolved your Epsom salt in water, then set it out so the water would evaporate, you would end up with huge crystals, some being over an inch in length. Crystal size will not help you identify a substance - crystals are divisible into smaller crystals. Shape can help identify, but it is a skill that requires a lot knowledge.
I'm pretty damn sure you got epsom salt. It could be some other similar salt, like sodium sulfate, which is also hydrated. It doesn't really matter. If there was anything vapable, it would have vaporized as soon as the water was removed.
That's some low rent cut - even the smallest amount is immediately visible if you smoke it. . Hopefully, the dickhead who fucked you over.is smart enough to know that whatever he does, he must never use a potassium salt because if you IV that you will probably drop dead from cardiac arrest.

You can tell in the first pic that they're all pretty much rectangular with one end being pointed, and that's also not a good sign. But like you said, it's most likely epsom salt. This is why I hate the dope game and only dabble with it ever so often. Tweaking for a couple days is fun to me every once in awhile lol. I don't over do it tho, I hate the lifestyle and it's not enjoyable after about the 3rd day.
