My friend and I were listening to the radio on a canoe trip and tripping mad balls. Then a Tracy Chapman song came on the radio. He thought tracy chapman was a guy. I told him it was a woman. For some reason it freaked the shit out of him and he thought I was messing around with him. He was terrified and thought the whole world had turned backwards on him... Now every time he hears one of her songs he gets panic attack from it. LMAO, some funny shit when I think about it.

metallica, my friend put that one and I wanted to smash my radio. Also... for some weird reason, pink floyd - atom heart mother suite, which i LOVE normally, scared the shit out of me while tripping. i didn't know what the hell it was, it just sounded like 'shark attack music' to me

I suggest checking out some music from Liquid Tension Experiment while tripping. If you've heard of Dream Theater, this is basically just the instrumental equivalent of them (probably due to the similarity of the members of the bands...). But yea, you're not gonna hear anything more melodic and atmospheric than this...if you have a good system with surround and nice bass, I honestly couldn't think of anything better.

three years or so back while on five or six tabs of grateful dead paper (had various gd art on it) the cd ended and my friend decided to put on limp bizkit. within thirty seconds everyone in the room was screaming TURN THAT SHIT OFF NOW. my friend who put it on used to be into limp bizkit, nobody else really liked or disliked them at this point (before they sold out), even he didnt like the vibrations that music was putting out. now we all hate limp bizkit i think that trip made me hate them even more. it was just like awful noise with menacing overtones bad angry music...

i love dnb, breaks, atmospheric jungle, even some good funky house is good every now and then. so to me, when dosed it sounds ^100 times better, lsd is perfect for repetitive music ie electronic beats. i used to dose, shroom, or chew up a couple pills at every party i went to so its kind of like reliving my past. i rarely eat any drugs at parties anymore, only once in a blue moon (once or twice a year tops.) on shrooms however i hate to say it but most of the time i cant stand most music. ambient or reggae is good though, not too loud. everything sounds slowwww, i wont recognize music i have heard hundreds of times and love to death; it will sound like bullshit and ill turn it off.

I agree that Cradle of filth is not the best choice while tripping hehe! Especially Median, The only time i listened to it when i was high I got the impression there was some invisible monsters around me... Not cool
DOnt listen to Opeth either, except Damnation which is THE ablum to listen to!
Liquid tension experiment is also a choice u wont regret but thats not the topic of this thread

I'd say country, rap/hip hop, or just crappy music in general like all that pop shit out now a days... I'm surprised a lot of you said so many cool metal and industrial bands, but then again i'm not surprised at the same time because not everyone likes the same music. I listened to Venom on one of my trips, it was a really low dosage trip (2 8ths shared between 5 people is really dumb, and I'll never do that again), but when I heard the solo in Venom - One Thousand Days Of Sodom, it was just amazing... it isn't the best solo in the world, but after that trip it still sounds amazing.

I always thought hip-hop would suck on shrooms until my DJ friend came over with his turntables and put on some kickback beats and flows. He played stuff like Pharcyde and The Roots, some beautiful music when I was really listening to it! I ended up disliking Sublime while shrooming on my first trip and any country will make me hurl...

i love sublime sober but when shrooming i couldnt dig on robbin in the hood at all, sounded slowed down and distorted almost like country for some reason (maybe it was the drugs? )

Another creepy as fuck album is "Easy Listening For Iron Youth - The Best Of NON." The entire album is really creepy, especially Cleanliness & Order. It was entirely done with resonant sound techniques to creep out 'normal' people. Yay Boyd Rice!

The worst music I ever had to listen to while tripping was when I went to an Irish pub all wacked out on shrooms and had to listen to this Irish jam band.. The lead singer had one of most annoying voice that just seemed to drill into my soul.. We had to leave after the second song cause it was just too fucking crazy.. Moral of the story is Irish pubs and shrooms don't mix..

I think the worst thing to listen to on a trip would be the entire Transparent album by Coil, or some other miscallenous Coil songs. Some Coil is good for tripping, while other songs just make me want to shit my pants.

rap isnt that bad..i listened to Tupac once while tripping and i wasnt even paying attention to the rap lyrics....just the beat was that mattered
hiphop music instrumentals sound really good when on shrooms, but not as good as some dnb or trance or fast electronic music

Those of you who can't find something to dig about rap, you're limiting your tastes. Shit you probably can't even name a handfull of underground hip hop players whereas I could go off on soundalike industrial clones.
There's rap and then there's hip hop and number two goes a lot deeper, less jangly bling bling beats but who needs them, I find myself lyrically minded anyways...
Check out a song called Rippers, by Casual, Opio, Tajai of SOM (Souls of Mischief) I wish I could have a grasp of language like that....

donovan almost always makes me want to sharpen two fresh pencils and just RAM them in my ears. but when i'm tripping or stoned out of my skull, some of his songs are really alright.
the worst music on mushrooms...i don't really care for the dead when i trip, i'm not really sure why. like them fine sober and smoked, but they're not the greatest for me when i'm tripping.
really like placebo and tori amos though...they made my last acid trip beautiful well, that and being out with my girlfriend at a big public park around here on a very sunny, happy day, looking at the lake and all the people barbequeing and picnicking, and the middle eastern folks smoking hookahs. it was a great trip!

YES Tavarua, finally somebody who isn't talking mainstream hip-hop. Fuck EVERYTHING on the radio, you people need to listen to some of the more abstract hip-hop. It's unbelieveable when you are tripping, very very trippy rap. Some notable artists to listen to include any member of the living legends, xololanxinxo, andre nickatina.
But my vote for worst music ever would have to be country, any death metal, mainstream rap, & pretty much anything on the charts.

You hate country? You have no idea what you're missing pal; I saw an advice here about a group called "Bluegrass", I checked it out; and it was great..
It's on my trip-list now;
and how about Janis Joplin ? She might be placed under the label "country" as well, and I consider her one of the best singers ever... (when I say that, I mean real singers; who put their heart to it; put raw feelings in their voice)
So just don't judge a book by its cover.
However; I do agree that one should never listen to death metal while tripping... It just seems too scary and intense. (hell; if you like that, sure why not? )

Interesting reading the posts about Pink Floyd. I love them sober but for some reason I've never listened to them tripping... I always listen to Led Zeppelin. I can see how they could be bad actually, the post-Syd stuff, because it is pretty negative stuff. The Syd Barrett stuff would be amazing though... that song about the little gnomes drinking their wine and sleeping
As for the question of the thread, I can't be sure but I imagine Tina Turner would be pretty bad...

APC is one of my favorite bands, but their cover of Imagine is HORRIBLE. I don't know where they came up with that one, but it should never have happened. Dave Matthews band sucks when you're tripping. Wait, they've sucked since i was 14. I love Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and old country music, but not on shrooms. It's great for getting really baked though. Any kind of tribal music, trance, trip hop, electronic, or atmospheric rock (i.e. Tool) is great for tripping, or any jam bands of course. Stay away from 80's hair bands. "Do you come from the land down under?" heheh..best song ever

I have a nomination.
The song Sir Bodsworth Rugglesby by the band Klaatu.
Not scary in any convential way. More scary in a happy clown with a butcher knife way. But man that song will get into your head and never let go. I listened to it while dissociated on DXM and every time I hear that song I go right back under. It's a great song though.
Any of the timothy leary tracks are great while tripping.

I'm going to listen to mostly pogues, dubliners, business, sham 69, and cock sparrer type stuff when I trip tomorrow. I don't really deal with shitty music, so the music I listen to goes well with any mind state.
