Went hunting for the first time today with no success. The walk ended slightly earlier than I intended when I came to a field with lots of cows and a few horny bulls (glancing over my shoulder when climbing over the stile I saw 2 of 'em goin at it!). Was this a legitimate worry or could I have kept going? And also, how do you find places to walk? I live in middle England not too far from the peak district, but I don't really see many foot path markers when out on the bike. Only ones I have seen I explored today and I had no luck.

Nice,,. I usually use google earth with street view and search for juncus.

Someone just got fucked up by cows, be careful around them, keep your distance.

Anyone having any luck in Ireland? I'm in the mid west and it's been raining a lot over here so most of the fields seem quite waterlogged. I'm mostly looking in fields surrounding a river but is this too low and waterlogged? I'm going to drive to a hill in the next few days.

I've found a good number of these are they indicative of libs?

So i went out for the first time today, still a bit early in the south over by the sea, but I did find a small number of reasonable size mushrooms and hundreds of baby ones.

Pretty sure these are all libs but will post anyway. Any ideas about the dark brown one? Is it safe?

Scary shit, I've walked through a lot of fields in Chippenham too

Cows freak me out but unfortunately they live in my lib field about half the time.
They get scared of my dog too.
They follow me round and that's when I start powerwalking out of there

I saw one of those big ginger ones with the massive horns go for a park ranger after he walked past it. He heard it go and had to jump around waving his arms to stop it. He was way closer than i would have got though. I was on a steep slope picking shrooms and he thought i was trying to escape the cows,,. He was waiting at the next stile so i had no choice but to walk on, i didn't know he was a ranger at first.

Those are psathyrella i think, i don't find them in my fields. Waterlogged ground is usually bad.

I have a pretty big collection of other shrooms i find in lib fields here,

Thanks for the reply. Will need to search a bit further afield for to find dryish fields some of the cows I've seen don't look happy at all, standing knee deep in mud!

Wouldn't be a bad idea until one of those pesky cows steals your camera. ^^

There's nothing with purple brown gills you need to worry about.

There's a list of deadly shrooms here,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_deadly_fungi

I checked with Alan to make sure it's comprehensive.

Yes but it includes some which are almost never deadly like Tricholoma equestre, A. muscaria, H. fasciculare, etc.

Hi Newbie here.

Been searching some local spots in North Wiltshire. I must have spotted 200 differetn species in one field over the last two weeks, but no libs.. until today (hopefully!)... if someone can identify these I would be really grateful!

Found in sheep grazing open fields.

Thanks!
