bryguy27007 said: This thread is amazing. I want to get a dog so bad, I love them. I always had them growing up. My parents have the most adorable little dog ever. He won't stop jumping around me and giving me kisses until about 20 minutes after I go there, and then he hangs out with me as long as I'm there. I know that I won't be living in this house next year and I also need to pay my landlord a deposit plus a monthly fee if I want to have a pet. I feel like I should wait until I know I'm going to be in a place for a while before I get one.
A steady home is best indeed. Also, make sure you look into the breed you want. In my case, huskies need lots of daily exercise.. and they're not obedience dogs. Free spirits they are.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. For breeds I was thinking maybe a black lab, jack russell terrier, golden retriever, I don't know. I haven't done enough research yet. Just bounced around some ideas. Good to know on huskies. I definitely want a loyal dog.

Well, they're very loyal dont get me wrong. They just choose when to listen to your commands. Haha. Once my husky ran away while I was asleep. I found him with bloody paws at my door and panting like never before.
Apparently he ran 5 miles to my old home (a neighbor spotted him and tried to catch him) and ran back home. He got hit by a car along the way (he just got up and kept going according to witnesses).
The bloody paws were from running on the asphalt. He was okay but we call him Road Runner, Iron Leg(Car hit his leg), Car Crusher.. etc.
So, they're loyal, but not afraid of traffic and have selective hearing. (For this reason he stays on a leash all the time, unless we're in a fenced dog run).
Good luck on your future companion You'll be happy with any of the breeds you mentioned

if it's your dog then go get it. If you're allowed to keep it at wherever you're staying now.

I am sure I posted my best buddies in another Pub puppy thread, oh wells I suppose that's the nature of the pub as it were.
Gypsy (Irish Stag Hound) - She is beautiful, but she is an idiot, still a pup really though.
Hendrix (Mixed breeds, no lab despite popular opinion) - My best buddy in the world.

This is Molli. I saved her right before she was to be put down You can probably guess why I named her "Molli" - she tends to keep to herself more than my other two dogs. I'm assuming Molli hasn't had a stable family and has been abandoned quite a bit. It took her about a year to start trusting me and wanting to lay next to me. she lives for walking and hunting rats, squirrels, birds and any other little furry animal.....
Another picture of Molli looking majestic in the backyard...
This is Carli. I got her as a puppy and she is just a loving attention whore.....
Here is Molli with little puppy Carli...
This is Ali. She was a rescue too and is just always happy. She is supposed to be an American Eskimo/Husky mix, but i really don't see much Husky in her. She is happiest when she is harassing the cats...
here is a picture of all three of the ladies...

This is a sweet thread, here's my contribution: Cleetis, German Wire-haired pointer or Draucthaar. A field trained upland bird hunter, equally at home in the field or around the house, trail savy. He misses nothing in flight or on the ground or any size hole filled with mud or water. The women and little kids can't resist him..

I have a female Jack Russell Terrier. She's must not of a protection dog because of her size but boy she will absolutely let you know if anythings fishy outside, girl can hear a stick snap outside way down on the other side of the property. Would attack if I said 'Get Em' Attack your feet. Than your hands when you try to get her off you. She's bitten people that raised their hand to me.
She is 8 years old and down for a 5 mile jog or run or sleep all day next to me. She has killed oppossums and would love to just get a squirrel. She's only 10 lbs but extremely wild animal aggressive and overly obsessive when it comes to other dogs. I'll try to get a picture.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers. The boy on the left is named Arrow. One on the right is his daughter, Bow. We also have a 16 year old Husky but I don't have a picture of him on me right now.

This is Black Jack he goes by many different names- Jack, Jackson, Blackie, Blackass, Blackula, Blackness, Dog Money. He is the best dog I have ever had. My life has been enhanced greatly by owning this pup. Even people who don't like dogs like Jack, he's so well behaved and affectionate.
