How does this method hold up for letting air in through the filter patch? I have some spawn bags that I am anxious to use, but don't want to waste the time when I already have a set up that works fine, quart jars. Or should I just stay with the quart jars?

If you want to expand, bags.
I bought sleeves from amazon and did the RR method. Let them cool in pc over night then just took them out and set them on a table. RR is right about them holding a vacuum really well. I have one bag here that is 15 days old since I made it and the "acordian-tyvek sleeve-fold" is still holding a really tight vacuum.
For some reason all my bags contam once i open them in front of my hood though . I have to do it RR style with the short flow hood, maybe that's a factor lol

I dunno man the only limiting factor for me really is the space inside of my pressure cooker. Quart jars are $10/12 @ the local Wal-mart and they are always in stock because of the local Mennonite population. Figure good spawn bags cost like at least $0.70 a piece but can easily hold like 3-4 quarts. I wouldn't really be spending too much long term if I just re-used and cleaned me jars. After reusing the jars three times they will pay for themselves.

Hey cool video but I was wondering do you use gas or electric with your pc? I got about the same one. I have a 21 quart all american model 921 pc but the problem with mine is it crushes my electric burner and destroys it. Do you or any one else have an ideal on how to avoid this problem with out switching to a gas range?

Are people still using tyvek sleeves? I realize this post is more than a decade old, but I haven't seen sleeves mentioned in any of the spawn bag teks I've read.
Planning to go Agar to Spawn Bag inside a SAB. Will probably do g2g later, only have agar and bags at the moment
