OP, I for one will not hold it against you if you just decide to sneak in.
I imagine it's easier to become a permanent resident if you can get a company here to offer you a job before you come.

Weather sucks here man, trust me. 3 or 4 months of nice weather if youre lucky. Find somewhere nicer to live imo. I'm from a commonwealth country and it was a bitch to get just permanent resident status. If you live somewhere less fortunate, I think you'll have a better chance of it going through
