All of womanhood is punishing me. A few times in a row now they've acted all interested in hanging out and getting down, only to disappear when the time comes. Buncha flakey floozies. And the only one's who'll give me the time of day are already taken. Just to rub it in. Shouldn'ta broken up with that chick the same week her mom died

Its such a fucked up story; I woke up just hating her and wanting to beat her dog, just in total negativity about the relationship, wanting to break up- and not 5 min later she got the call that her mom was in the hospital It was either break up or lie to her face. Hadda do it.

The fact that you felt this was the least hurtful action calls your powers of analysis and judgment into question.
Unless you did it selfishly, in which case it is your character in question.

And I'm in agreement -- this is how karma pays stuff like that back. I am a believer in "instant" karma in some cases, and I believe it usually operates in a very ironic, or poetic-justice type manner, to force consideration on the part of the offender.
Yeah, I know some would say my view is a little idealistic or optimistic -- but I like to believe in an idealistic and optimistic higher power.

I never said it was the least hurtful action. A breakup is always hurtful, and always selfish.
You're all saying you'd have been dishonest to spare someone's feelings? You would be able to sit there with someone you want nothing to do with and tell them it's okay and you're there for them??

Yes, thats exactly what I'm saying. I mean fuck, you could have waited at least a couple weeks. Its called being a human being, even if somebody who had actually hurt me in the past came to me in their time of need seeking comfort I would give it to them. Its called empathy man
Also, shouldn't have mentioned that because now its dominated this thread. Good call keeping it anon

I couldn't do it. I couldn't lie like that. I'd prefer to be looked at as the bad guy then have her find out later that all of that comfort was fake. I'm empathetic, I never said it was easy, I've felt horrible about this for over a month now. It feels pretty shitty to hurt someone. She deserved better than someone staying with her out of pity. I hurt her because my other option was to hurt both of us by dragging out a broken relationship during a terrible event in her life. If anything its given me more empathy for people who have to make tough decisions.
