Is joining the Air Force a moral thing to do?

Two of my cousins are signing up for the Air Force. I'm not sure how I feel about this. With the war in Afghanistan I'd be concerned of being signed up on a mission like blowing up people somewhere. Someone educate me. Is joining the Air Force a morally correct thing to do. I'd be okay with it if someone like Gary Johnson or Ron Paul were president but unfortunately people like Obama and Romney are warmongers so I'd say it's immoral to join the Air force. I'm aware that they most likely won't even be flying aircraft but I dunno man. Thoughts?

I wanted to join the marines . But recently I saw a movie about the military and how they came back all fucked up . One missing a hand , one with a fucked up back , two with PTSD . I dont want to be like them . So I will not join . The good part about it is the military will pay for almost everything you do .

Depends on your personal morals.
I know a Christian who is in the Air-Force, prays every night, says grace over dinner, and I asked how he can kill someone having the moral values of God, and he said "I'm doing my country service, and am able to keep my family safe."
I just think in my head... blow me.
I think the excuses people give to joining a military branch is such shit. If we look at our government and REALLY analyze why we are there, we'd probably change our mind... or not.
I wanted to join the Air-Force for EOD, but I got denied because of my health status.
I wanted to join for this reason... It pays REALLY fucking well. My Brother in law is MP in the Air-Force and gets 70k a year after taxes. I'd be a higher rank than him as an EOD.
It really all depends. Do soul searching, do re-search.
There are MANY jobs in EACH branch, where you ALMOST guaranteed to never be sent over.

With the Air Force you don't really go into close combat or anything. In fact, you usually don't even fly aircraft from what I know. You usually do some desk job organizing shit like the mealplan for your fellow airforcemen.

Pretty much this and no at this point I can see no morality in joining to help fight and ghost enemy and to kill innocent people.

Really depends man.
My friend Andy is Air-Force, he's been in Afgan for 6 years. He came back for a year and was FUCKED up. His first week back he bought a Jeep, totally blacked out. 4grand in a sound system. He was driving down the highway after he decked it out, he accidentally got too close to an 18-wheeler and it honked its horn, he got so freaked out, he cut the wheel, and flipped his jeep like 15 times down the highway. Was in ICU for 6 months, got out and they shipped him back.
Remember, almost everyone is told they will have a desk job.

Take everything at face value. You join the air force, get paid, and shoot people until they no longer perceive consciousness. I'd be more concerned about becoming a dog of the military.

is it morally wrong to work for the steel industry that supplied the metal to build tanks, is it morally wrong to grow food that feeds the military, is it morally wrong to pay your taxes which go to the support of the 'war machine'
if you dont want to enlist, then dont. dont try and push your morality on others

our military is in place to back up a government ,that suppresses and removes our rights not only as american citizens, but as human beings. to join in any position is supporting the rape of our freedom.

I don't think morality has anything to do with it.
I certainly wouldn't want to join the military myself, but I don't feel that I have the right to feel morally superior to someone who does.

smoking weed isnt covered in the constitution, what is covered is our right to change the laws in order to make it a right, it worked with the repeal of alcohol prohibition and can work with marijuana

If I was 18 again, I would join, absolutely. I really regret not joining at 18. I'd be very proud to be serving my country, especially with all this country has done for me over the years.
You should be proud of your cousins. They've made an excellent and mature decision that will improve themselves and their lives.
