The preliminary rounds are going on. Navi, last years winner, got blown out of the water by IG - a new Chinese clan. China is pretty strong this year, they're blowing US/Europe out of the water tbh. I'm rooting for team COL (USA, friends) but they're getting hit really hard right now.
Prize pool is 1.7 mil, 16 teams.

Holy shit 1.7 fuckin million?!
Dota was my favorite part of wc3. And I was damn good at it. I got shit Internet now so can't play like I used to. But damn that pool is retarded.

Lol. Hardest part of that game is learning to be a good subordinate once you hit top 2%. Least it was for me, its hard for me to take orders. Even the captains were subordinate for a long time. If you can hang, more power to you.

I generally carried pub gameson Warcraft 3.
If my Internet wasn't complete shit I'd still be playing. Loved that game, gonna build a comp and get better Internet soon and will start playing again.

Yeah thats pub games though. Once you get on the higher levels you really need to break down your ego and listen 2 team captain, which isnt necessarily the carry. And to get to be team captain its very hard to just do on your own. COLs captain worked under Bill.Gates (username) for many months learning new strats, Ive worked under captains, you need experience with both. There are a lot of top 1% players that dont have the teamwork to cut the mustard for the international, myself included.

Of course, I understand all that, and I could never take a game that seriously.
I loved it because it was fun, and pub stomping was always good times

It gets really interesting when you understand all the characters and what they do, I could play any character towards the end, and play them well. Dota was my favorite game, it's fucking a master piece of gaming in my opinion.

Oh yeah, great game & very addictive. IMO the biggest adrenaline rush is being with a team who respects you, which is hard to find. Just yelling on voice chat <ench mia, prob headed bot> <K, when he hits here tps ready> ench comes, mass tp, she cuts to the trees <left above the mid creep camp!> kill ench. It's so coordinated and crazy.

Yeah pub games are always good. I got sick of it eventually though, its like shooting fish in a barrel. Progression gets more stressful but also more rewarding.

Ya bad team mates and leavers suck.
But when you find yourself in the middle of a great thriller
I generally randomed towards the end, I really like the archer types and magic users.
Necromancer was probably my favorite, the alchemist was really fun to play as well, and his stun was choice.
