How would you feel if God's existence was proved through rational and logical science would you continue to disbelieve or would you ignore the scientific evidence as fundamentalist Christians do with regards to evolution.
I dont think anything is ever proved with science. In science all theories and conclsuions are tentative. That is a fundamental characteristic of science. The conclsion that god doesnt exist is tentive with repsect to new evidence. If that evidence was had then the conclusion that god does exist would be tentitive with respect to new evidence.

Ha even you seem to have faith.
I dont think so.
The fact that you are so quick to dismiss rational and logical proofs shows that you are in fact the same as a religious fanatic. They say the exact same thing as you. I am not trying to be a nuisance just trying to show you that theism is not some evil ideology that corrupts all who are exposed to it.

Huh? I dont dismiss logical and rational proofs. I dismiss the notion that scientific conclusions are ever proved. This goes against the very heart of the philosoophy of science. All scientific conclsions are tentative, they are never 'proved'. Logical and rational proofs deal with math and, well, logic. You can prove something in math because you assume the postulates for the sake of the proof. You can never prove something in science because postulates can always be attacked. Look at the work of Popper and Kuhn for a more in depth analysis of the modern, mainstream philosophy of science.

No they dont. They appeal to faith and say things like "you just gotta have faith" or "jesus touched me personally, so I know for certain". They do not say things like I just wrote, they do not claim that all their conclusions are tentative with respect to new evidence.

Evil and corruption is in the eye of the beholder. I think humanity would be better off if their threw their theistic beliefs in the trash forever.

My apologies for the mis communication when I said you denied rational proofs I meant that your dismissal of my hypothetical scenario was the exact same thing a religious fanatic would do with regards to evolution being proved by science. Granted while nothing in the scientific community is set in stone it is fair to say that the Law of gravity is readily accepted. The philosopher Pascal deduced through logic that it makes more sense to believe in a deity than to disbelieve.

The only logical and rational response to the question of a God existing or not existing is "I don't know and nobody else does either." Claiming with any degree of certainty that there is or isn't a God is a fool's game.

Why? Every proposed god has definable characteristics that are investigatable. The only god that is immune from investigation is one purposefully constructed in an ad hoc manner with very few characteristics at all. Of course, that god is continually being redefined with less and less characteristics and is not worshiped by anyone really.

Christianity is an intellectual disease that places too much emphasis on fantastic and ridiculous unverifiable claims. On the opposite side are Atheists, which are strict intellectual materialists that place too much emphasis on "physical evidence or it doesn't exist", it limits them to sooo many things, in the same way that Christians are totally closed minded to outside beliefs because they think if they look into other ideas they will be offending god by messing with witchcraft/heathenism/paganism and so on.
I find myself to be in the middle, neither a strict intellectual materialist nor a religious zealot, but, I update my philosophical/metaphysical/spiritual beliefs regularly with new information that I come across and contemplate seriously or experience personally, I find that works best for me. I'll probably never identify with any religion.

Atheist have higher IQ's than both agonistics and religious peoria. IQ tests are rigorously tested for validity and standardization. I just thought that I offer that information to you all. There is a strong correlation between high intellectual ability and decreased religiosity.

Yea thats probably true but the guy that decoded the human genome is a fundamentalist christian that believes the earth is 5000 years old. What have you say about THAT?

That correlation does not mean that the most intelligent people are necessarily un-religious, it means that they are simply less likely to be religious.

Both atheists and Christians can be obnoxious, arrogant, and pushy. Christians are full of shit though with imaginary creatures and fantastical stories of magic and faith and salvation and most importantly tithing. Atheists make no such claims and that is why you should give one a hug and a sphincter massage.

Yes. I do not think the majority of people with high IQ's would believe in any deity just because someone said it's real. A smart person would probably have to have some sort of personal, revelation or experience that can not be explained with what little science and logic human being's understand. Such an experience could share similarities with symptoms of schizophrenia in some cases.

I have a cousin that is in a very specialized technical field and makes shitloads of money per year, so much that she has like 10 houses that she rents out, no joke. She brags that she has an IQ of 140 or so, but she believes in Jesus Christ and the other bullshittery of Christianity. What I learned from this is that IQ does not mean you have a high level of awareness or that you understand what's going on around you, I'm not sure what IQ measures, really. Maybe the whole thing is just an illusion, for instance there are people with high IQ's that have the awareness of a snail. but doesn't awareness and understanding fall under the scope of "intelligence"? So what exactly is "IQ" measuring?

Its measuring the specific tests that are administered. Geometrical and spatial reasoning, memory, basic cultural knowledge and vocabulary.
An IQ of 140 is more than one in a thousand. Its high, but there are many of them out there with many different beliefs.

Atheists are not annoying. Some people who are atheist are annoying. The same goes for christians, jews, muslims, budhists, hindus, shintos, etc.
Arguing is fucking pointless. I myself am atheist but if somebody learns morals by believing in a god, why should I give 2 fucks?
Believe or not believe, don't be loud about it and don't shit talk people with different views..
