Watch out for that first step, it's a doozy.

The following video was taken at "13 Corners" just outside of Ely, MN. It's a flooded open-pit mine and it's fucking terrifying. The reward is so worth it though!

The camera makes it that much harder. I think we had six takes before that when I said I was gonna go, but by the time the camera got rolling i'd bitch out. The film doesn't do it justice at all though. It's a gnarly fall.

That was you? very nice man. How many feet do you think it is? I'm guessing 50-60?
edit - just looked up your town on wiki, a weird habit I have whenever I hear of a new place - your average low temp in January is NEGATIVE 9 and the high is 14? I give you credit my man, I could not live in that environment.

I actually just worked there for the summer guiding canoe trips. I got invited back for winter though so i'll be getting my frozen as handed to me by january  I actually live in NC, but I love Ely. To answer your question though, basic geometry puts it at 64-65 feet.

oh god, enjoy that! haha. you're taking the job? Good for you.
I've been to NC once, a very long time ago, and only to the outer banks so I guess I only hit the touristy spots you could say. Still, I liked it a lot there. Really laidback place for the most part, from what I could tell at like 10 years old:hehehe:
I remember whatever interstate we were on had these growing in the medians for miles, I was blown away:

really cool flowers.

Holy shit Guru! That's a massive jump. Good work. I'm definitely going to scope out Miner's and 13 corners when I go up there next. Thanks for the video.

I think that was actually them feeling numb.

Can't even imagine. Well, I can imagine, but I don't know if I could do it. 30 is probably my highest. Maybe 35, but probably not.

Once you get the itch it's hard to stop. You just wanna go higher. That's moment when you finally jump and you shut your mind off and let your body do the work is absolute zen to me.

Nope.

Wait...

In the jingle jangle morning I'll come followin' you.

My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet,
I have no one to meet,
And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming."

That's what I said the first time I stood at the top. Once I finally did it it was fucking incredible!

Whenever I do something ridiculous like that, I quote Prince Vultan.
