i wish i could do shit like that ay

i remember when i was a teenager, all my friends used to spend our days at the pools. and they had like all high diving boards and those in ground trampolines that Damien was using in that vid.

anyways every now and then these older dudes, like 23 or something used to come down and these dudes were AMAZING. they would get on the trampoline, and be bouncing like literally 3 metres up into the air, doing like double backflips, landing flat on their back and into double front flips. also doing all sorts of like crazy diagonal sideways flips??!? hard to explain. you see professional divers doing them where they kind of rotate diagonall and to the side and stuff. like in the standing position, but their body is rotating horizontally, but also their whole body at the same time is rotating diagonally. hard to explain. anyway the shit was sick as fuck.

and they used to jump off like 3 metre diving board and do the same things, except when they would land, they would land doing a perfect bomb position and make a massive splash. they were so sick dude. we used to call them the ninja guys. they were cool as shit

Yeah it's pretty awesome to watch, I wish I could move like that too but it takes a lifetime of dedication and practice to move like Damien at least - I read he started at 7. I might be more willing to try that stuff in a foam pit or off a diving board but then there is the likely and looming possibility of a horrendous belly flop.

oh it takes years of practice. they learn how to roll properly and how to spread the force of impact. thats the key to doing what they do. ofcourse you have to be very proportionately strong to be able to lift and control your body weight. and after that i think they just develope a 6th sense of judging distance and their momentum and things. like i've seen interviews of them where they say after a while they can instantly recognize what is within their capabilities and what isn't.

but it would be a really difficult sport to get started in. think of how many injuries those guys would have suffered. just one mistake on just about any of those live stunts and they are going to break bones or sprain their ankles or who knows what. i guess they prepare for all this type stuff in the gym  beforehand, but still. i can't imagine that shit wouldn't just sometimes go wrong for them and they end up getting severely injured.

in relation to the ninja flipping dudes i was talking about, after we observed how they moved and how they did all their tricks, we started copying them and realised its actualyl pretty easy. we weren't game enough to do big 2-3 metre high double front , land flat into double back flips. but i could easily do like a medium sized front flip, land flat and into a back flip, or vice versa. mostly it's just the mental element to throw yourself into the flip that is the hardest part. but if you just get the right height in your jump and throw your body into the flip, it's actually really easy. definitely takes balls though.

and alot of people say backflips are easy, because you can see your landing on a backflip so its easier to land. but they say front flips are alot more ballsy and difficult because on a front flip you can't see your landing and so it's essentially a blind flip, you have to feel where the ground is and know where it is, rather then actually see it and land on it. so its more difficult

yeah Damien has quite the bloopers reel - the injuries can be off putting if you just want to do it for fun and have a regular job you need to be physically ok to do. :philososloth:
