SERIOUSLY why do so many people think of acid as so terrible?
    #16713312 - 08/17/12 08:14 AM (9 months, 27 days ago)

I just can't wrap my head around why or how a chemical that feels so cleansing, non-toxic, and blissful ends up getting demonized for destroying people's minds by so many people. I think it's right having it illegal so the ones who know what they're doing can take it and not endanger themselves.... but whyyy demonize & not inform...?

People just don't know anything about it. Take for example this comment I came across yesterday.

It's obvious:
  • LSD is the most potent hallucinogen known to science.
  • Most LSD experiences offer false perceptions of reality making you believe you know things that aren't real facts.
  • LSD experiences can be very frightening and lead to the same sort of PTSD seen in soldiers.
  • LSD use can give a person schizophrenia.
  • LSD makes the user susceptible to personal injury (e.g. one man took acid and jumped out a window thinking he could fly)
  • A person that has taken LSD can randomly start reliving a LSD experience, this is called a flashback.
  • LSD is highly addictive and once you have used on it, you can never stop going back.
  • Even in the unlikely event that you don't get schizophrenia on your first LSD experience, doctors agree that by the time you take LSD 7 times your mind is sufficiently twisted to the point where you can be deemed clinically insane.
  • LSD users think objects are "beautiful". A LSD user can go blind staring at the sun.
  • LSD is an acid and can burn holes through your brain.
  • Street LSD, commonly refered to as "blotter" usually contains dangerous amounts of strychnine which is a very toxic chemical byproduct of LSD manufacture.

I know that it's easy for you, as an addict to expound the virtues of LSD abuse, but the facts are here and those who know what's good for them will stay away for LSD at all costs.

Please tell me you're joking? Shrooms have had me believing much, much crazier things then LSD. I've never had a trip on LSD where I felt like I had gone insane, mushrooms however? That's a re-ocurring phenomenon.

Plus the risk of turning into a glass of orange juice is pretty high.  1 in 5 LSD users turn into a glass of orange juice within 6 months of their first use.

WTF?  Highly addictive/can never stop and likely to cause schizophrenia the first experience?  I know alot of great thinkers who could be deemed "clinically insane" then...

Holes in brain?  I know it kills brain cells but dunno about actual holes...

Also isn't strychnine added to increase effect; and not a manufacturing byproduct?

That list seems 50% truth; 50% "DARE" campaign.  Source?

Anyways; I might add to it the great possibility that what one procurs as "acid" may actually be some other synthetic compound.  This alone is what usually keeps me away.
