Teen accused of running DMT lab in Sherwood home
SHERWOOD, Ore -- A Sherwood teenager is accused of running a drug lab inside his home in the house sits in the 17000 block of SW King Richard Ct.
Someone who lives in the home contacted police Thursday evening, after discovering what was believed to be a drug lab.
Authorities arrived and confirmed the teen appeared to be making dimethyltryptamine, a psychedelic drug.
Police cleared the home of the drugs and the drug-making materials.
"There's potential for explosives, potential for health risks," said Capt. Ty Hanlon of the Sherwood Police Department.
They 17-year-old boy is facing several charges, including possession and manufacture of a controlled substance.
"They're a real sweet family," said neighbor Cindy Moran. "It's really sad to hear this is happening to them."
The investigation is continuing.

There is no risk of explosion with extracting DMT... the mixture might heat up a little, but no.

He's 17, knowingly manufacturing a sched I drug. He is getting charged as an adult I'm sure.

People amaze me with their stupidity everyday. A guy in my city last summer blew himself up making THC oil. So as unlikely as it is to happen their are people dumb enough to do it. You shouldn't overestimate the average persons intelligence, if he was smart he wouldn't have been making drugs in his parents house.
He probably wasn't dumb enough to catch the place on fire but you never know. Still a shame, he probably just wanted to try DMT.

kinda doubt it would have exploded. the cops did say he was MAKING dimethyltryptamine. that would require a very expensive lab worth several thousands for the synthesis. kid must have been a organic chemist genius with alot of money. no way he would let his stuff just blow up.

 cops will never specify, or know enough to specify, between synthesis and extraction. To them either way is creating a drug.
