 Is anyone going to the mushroom olympics in Beijing?

or has anyone been to one of these once in four years trade fair, congress, tours etc. It will be exciting to see what they're doing in China. It's about $200 return from here. The tour is too expensive and the congress is too advanced but maybe the trade fair will be worth it. Or maybe not...Beijing Mushroom Olympics

I was unable to connect to the link > "timed out". I'll try the link again, when they are more likely to be online.
But Google found this Mushroom congress to be held in Beijing - is this it?
It does say International Society for Mushroom Science, so may require an invitation... .
You might see if Google can give you some idea of previous Congresses ie. 4-5 years ago.
I'd want to know the program of events ... lectures, suppliers' displays?
You might get some new ideas and combine it with a vacation, depending on where you live.
It would definitely cost more than $200 from N.America!
I'd like to hear more about it, especially if you go ....

You need an invitation if you are going to present a paper. I'll just go see the trade show. I've been to trade fairs in China mostly food, plants, agriculture, gifts and they never disapoint. I'm excited to see what they have and I'm excited to buy supplies which will surely be cheap. I'll also be cloning the mushrooms I find there. If I'm disappointed, I'll just eat Peking duck. Will keep y'all posted.

Looking forward to the update! If you can, I'd love to see some pictures at the trade show. I've never been to anything like this (except gun shows), but it definitely sounds interesting!

Yup, I'm designing a lightweight, foldable glove box I can use for cloning in the hotel room. Then I'll hit the wild mushroom market.

sparkle be carefull in China , this is not philippines . got a friend last year who collected mushrooms in the field in China and made spore prints in his hotel room . Was denounced by hotelpersonel was arrested and is today still in jail.Even the famous pinay charms could be useless in such a case

Thanks BiteP. But don't worry, I go to China a lot. Besides, this is a mushroom congress. The hotel is the official hotel so they'll expect that. I'll only be doing gourmet and medicinals.

the apples are small but still.. this is from a small bag.
But when it comes to mushrooms, they're not kidding here in China.

Some more pics for you guys...
Some things that caught my attention are the ones they are growing in their hot houses. 95F in Beijing today.
Clitocybe Maxima just beginning to fruit.
 
A kilo of Auricularia from a skinny little bag.
I'll post these pics again in the heat loving thread.
I'm not sure what the weight is. I'm guessing the monster is about 2 lbs. 16" long from a 10" high 5"diameter bag. And they're twins! We had dinner at a hot pot place after and we had the twin sliced and it joined the beef and veggies in the pot. I'll clone this in the bathroom tomorrow. They grow it traditionally, I suspect it's a superior strain.
Really you can't play the vids? All of you? I have dozens more to share. No youtube here though, nor google. That's the Chinese equivalent. I'll try another way when I get home.

That is one cool mushroom! Considering how hot the summers get in Texas, I think it would definitely be worth researching for outdoor grows here
