Then I believe the scene cut to Principal Skinner who said, "that theramin has paid for itself again, and again."

uh.. a keytar is just a keyboard that's better for performance art.
playing a keytar live is much cooler than just standing there behind a keyboard.

you can play a keytar two handed my friend, why not?
the handle at the top typically has a bunch of controls like a pitch shift , ribbon controller, effects, portamento, legato, delay, arpeggiator, programmable knobs and buttons etc.
a keytar is cool like a jimmy hendrix picking with his teeth and behind his head is cool, its a better performance imo.
plus you can get all kinds of sounds other stand up indstruments can't.
I saw a cool keytar once that was like a guitar but had buttons on the frets. I think it was in a live pendulum video, I though it was pretty cool how he was playing the lead to a drum & bass song on it while singing lead at the same time front stage.
