Location:South carolina was found growing on wood just these 2 growing next to eachother gill color:white

OP, are you SURE it was growing on wood, because you mushroom does appear to be an Amanita (I think that's a volva on the lower mushroom in the first pic).
Amanita is a mychorrizal mushroom. It grows off the rootlets of trees, not off the wood itself.

This isn't Amanita phalloides. It appears to be Amanita...not sure which one though.

Nope. I doubt this is in Section Phalloideae. There is insufficient info to ID this to species. Not one of the guide book Amanitas. In fact, this may not be Amanita though it does look like it.

Cap color and stature are wrong. There's no saccate volva. A. phalloides is a european species. It is present but rare in the east as an invader with european tree imports. What tree was it growing under?

umm it was in the woods so there were a lot of trees everywhere im not very sure what kind of tree it was under
