Thats why I leave it for a few minutes so the chlorine would disspipate. The fluoride doesn't bother me at all.

Well water smells like farts? I don't get it. Well water is delicious and actually clean smelling/tasting compared to city water.
Are you thinking of some old timey ass well from the 1800's? ROFL I couldn't think of a better way to get drinking water than sucking it straight from the ground.

Just need to address this misinformation. Plastic pretty much never stops outgassing. That's it's nature. FYI, certain types of opaque plastics virtually don't outgas at all.

There is some evidence that plastics can catalyse the production of free radicals which are carcinogenic so whenever possible I use a glass bottle.

I think I heard that plastic actually lines paper cartons (i.e. milk and orange juice). Is that true?

Now I remember, it was an episode of How It's Made: They showed a factory and they showed a cylindrical tower of hot plastic being formed and this was used to line the insides of paper cartons. I used to think paper cartons had a unique lining; in actuality it's a volatile plastic.

keep in mind that these cheap little filters like britta, pur, and pitcher filters you guys are posting are not going to remove any fluoride. fluoride requires a special kind of filtration. the one i use actually has 2 filters because the first one is just for fluoride. it's fairly cheap system that just hooks up to my faucet. it's definitely not the best quality water filtration, but i find that it actually works quite well.
i don't even remember what site i ordered the actual filter system from because i bought it several years ago. but this is exactly what it looks like i have to order the new KDF fluoride cartridges online for ~$60, and i just buy the second cartridge for like ~$13 at a local hardware store. (so i basically pay somewhere around $75 every 6 months for decent quality water)
they still have to be replaced every 6 months even though i hardly use them. i don't come anywhere near the total water capacity that i actually could get out of them. there's probably newer systems out by now that do the same thing as mine idk.

Probably depends on the location, just like with tap water. My uncle has a well at his place and the water tastes great, but I can imagine that there are some places where well water would taste gross.
The tap water here is ok but it tastes better if you run the tap for a short while. I don't like that they put fluoride in it, but it doesn't bother me enough not to drink it.

My parents have people who try to buy their well water off of them. My dad brings in gallons of it to his job sites and charges 50 cents to fill up their water bottle.
My tap water in town isn't too bad. It just has no flavor to it besides the somewhat chemically taste.

I'm more worried about the various sex steroids in tap water.
In 2001 scientists introduced the most common birth control chemical Ethinyl estradiol 2 (EE2) in some lake at a concentration of 5 parts per trillion. Thats absurd but it lead to the extinction of some fish population.

All I drink is water, tap water. It's good shit. I drink city water, I drink well water whatever is on tap where I'm at. It's all good, even if when you fill the cup it's all cloudy, glug glug, or let it sit for 2 minutes and clear up. So what if it gives me cancer, the newports will do it way before the water, or there's always the air we breathe. Tap water is harmless, even the shit with methane in it, just let it sit a bit. It funny...people crying about poisoned water, have no problem suckin down a shot of whiskey. Don't get me wrong I love me some whiskey, I just acknowledge it's doing more harm than my fuckin water. Have you ever had a glass of tap water on LSD? Liquid of life, my friends. And I don't live in some pristine wilderness, New fucking Jersey, if anywhere has poisoned water it's here. Although ours is better than that shit that flows in Brooklyn.
/end rant i guess. my bad i like water
