The Miracle Berry From the Gardens of West Africa...

Hey Fellas...
Check this out! My friend 5is turned me on to something that I think is absolutely out of this world and I want to share it with you.
From somewhere in West Africa, there comes a small red berry that resembles a cranberry. They are really called "Miracle Berries". It's not much to look at, but the effect of chewing it up and holding it in your mouth for a few moments is almost not to be believed.
For an hour after you have chewed this berry up, everything that normally tast sour or bitter, will taste as sweet as honey. I have done some research on it, and it is absolutely true! Limes, vinegar, grapefruits, and anything you can think of that is bitter or sour, will taste not just sweet, but rather pleasantly so. Check it out for yourself!
The reason I thought I would bring this to the attention to the EG is because most of us at times drink things that are almost without parallel on the bitter scale. Image what the possibilities are if you had a couple Miracle berries before you drank something bitter again!
Here's a short video that tells the very interesting history of this berry in the United States, and also demonstrates the veracity of the claims I've made above:
Out of respect for the sourcing rules of the Garden, I cannot give you the links to the suppliers of the berries, but I can tell you that there is plenty of places to buy them from on the Internet. The berries run roughly a dollar a piece, but you can also get the miraculine in tablet form which is cheaper and just as effective.
I wish you good luck with these, and hope you never have to drink anything bitter or sour again!

I've had these before. It's an interesting experience when you bite into a lemon and it tastes sweet and sugary.
That's expensive for berries though. Just buy a plant and grow your own.

Eat berry - drink a quart of San pedro pulp that taste like apple juice? Would it work like that?

Precisely like that...
Can you imagine that you could turn that flavor into a cactus milkshake??? The use of this berry can basically turn an undefinably awful part of the experience into one that is quite pleasurable and incredibly mind blowing at the same time. And, as you know, mind blowing is pretty popular around here...

Miracle berry doesnt work on cactus, sorry
does make beer sweet among many other things. If you eat a bunch, smoking will be sweet (herb). eat even more and breathing through the mouth becomes super sweet and is an experience in itself.

I third this notion!! Great find native, even if it doesn't work with cacti, my mind is racing with possibilities!
If it doesn't work with cacti you may wanna look into the artificial sweetener neotame instead , however I have no experience with this as of yet

I would be weary of neotame. I looked into it a few weeks back, and I was turned off by the overwhelming reports of negative side effects. You may already be aware of the neurotoxic effects of aspartame. Well, neotame is many times sweeter but also many times more neurotoxic according to a lot of reports I found. A simple Google search will show you what I found.

I'm generally very wary of artificial sweeteners, Ive only considered neotame for cactus juice, which would be consumed very rarely and I'm guessing not much would be needed to significantly alter the taste. I would never consider taking an artificial sweetener on a regular basis (daily, weekly, he'll not even monthly!)

I'm not really sure where you got Neotame from... The active chemical in Miracle Berries is called Miraculin and is produced by Synsepalum dulcificum. (The Miracle Berry Plant).
Nothing I could find on Google about Neotame made any mention at all of Miraculin. The berries have been used for hundreds of years, and I would think we would know by now if they were in fact harmful to our health.
I'm still waiting to hear from anyone who has taken these berries in conjunction with cactus of any form.

I mentioned neotame, it has nothing to do with miraculin, I was mentioning as a possible way to help get rid of the taste of the cactus juices since someone mentioned the Betty's don't work with cacti

It doesn't make San Pedro more palatable. Just a heads up, save your miracle berries for when you are already on the pedro, its a much more worthy use of an awesome fruit.

i farm both and have lots of both on hand all the time, so im positive it wont work best bet with cacti is dry it, weigh it, and filter well, then do as shots.
As for caes rumors, its probably like grafted cacti rumors. it is very hard to tell strength via bioassay. its even harder when using fresh because you literally have no idea of how much you are taking. I think the majority of folks, especially with peyote as you eat many smaller cacti, dont really know how much they are taking, there are too many variables hence why dried should be used when attempting to get a gauge of strength.
caespitosa do work, though i have not extracted them to find out exactly their relative strength to other varieties.

This is what I was looking for...
Thanks for the insight. Can you tell us a little more about what kinds of things the Miracle Berries do work with? I mean, like could you chew up a vitamin C tablet, and it would taste sweet? How about unsweetened chocolate? I just find it incredible that they work at all on anything.
