homophobia
    #16655913 - 08/06/12 09:11 PM (9 months, 6 days ago)

what exactly is homophobia? it's more than just a fear of the gayness of others...to me, that's just the projection of a homophobe's own inner conflict.

what does a homophobe actually fear (within themselves)? pretty much every straight person is homophobic to an extent, whether they admit it or not...

"Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies."

yea i've seen that study before, it's interesting.

my theory is that people who are really homophobic are actually just afraid of their own tendency to "love" other people of the same sex, (not necessarily in a sexual way either)...they're just afraid to open up and express any sort of real intimacy/connection out of fear of being labeled gay or something.

so basically they just project that fear of intimacy on gay people, because gays are the most "extreme" example of loving someone of the same sex.

Or it could be that they were pursued endlessly by child predators. I had eight unwelcome advances between age 11 and 17. I was never actually assaulted, but there were some very dicey moments where I feared for my safety.

Now I am well aware that homosexual does not mean pedophile, but all of the pedophiles I personally encountered were homosexual.

So you are homophobic then?  Or just hate pedophiles?

I was always the one making the advances on adults as a child.

Anyone notice this?"

Don't you mean a hard spot?

I would say that terminology such as this is derived from homophobic attitudes for a kick-off!
