Good news!!! need fruiting advice
    #16655038 - 08/06/12 07:05 PM (9 months, 10 days ago)

Alright I am officially a dad! This is my first pin ever so I am pretty excited   Now the question is should I let it sit the other 3 days so it had the week to consolidate or should I birth it now since I have pins?

Now for the possible bad news... I looked at the jars today and this is the only jar with a possible contam that I know of. I know the picture quality isnt great but I had to use my phone camera because I ahve no idea where I put the sd card for my digital camera

There are 2 dark spots at the bottom of the jar in the red circle. The one is smaller and has a brown/black look to it. The spot in the black circle is black with looks like a small drop of blood around it?

Does anyone know what this could possibly be? If there is any doubt at all I will not hesitate to toss it, just want to check with your guys first.

P.S. I named him Elliot

Can't tell anything about the spot but it might just be a piece of verm.

Does it look rusty? Like a little patch of liquid rust? I've seen this in my jar's before as well. I still used them and they turned out fine. I never found out what the hell it was. It's still stuck to the bottom of some of my jar's.

Yes, it does kind of look like rust. It has red on the outside of the darker spot. I will check back tomarrow and get a better picture up as well.

Sooooo Birth it early and dunk n roll?

So just to clarify, given that there is a mushroom, not even a pin growing down the side of his jar... you all still recommend that he wait longer to birth it... and then he is to dunk and roll the cake with mushrooms and possibly other pins??!!!?

My advice is as follows and you can quote:

Wait the full seven days, dunk and roll as normal.
If any pins fall off, eat them.

Others may advise differently.

Yes, and I personally pluck them off before the dunk (they'll grow back, it's OKAY). Dunno why everybody freaks out over few invitro shrooms, trust me, it won't hurt a thing.

LMAO @ Doc:thumbup:

I hope it's a pin. Does that spot look like this? I seen this in a few wbs jar's before. It sounds just like what your explaining.

BTW, thats milk in the jar so you can see it better. xD

Oh no.. I would prefer invitro shrooms... its just in my experience... if you see them you should birth.  Those usually grow into monsters.

It kind of looks like that. The center spot is darker, it could possibly be a dark dark red spot. Then around looks like blood if it were in water?
