Being stoopid pays off

I noticed that Serena Williams, gold medal tennis winner, was wearing one of those useless magentic bracelets.

Wait, aren't she and her sister both pros? How is she playing in the Olympics?

You have been out of the loop quite a while, my friend. The amateur/pro distinction became so sticky they ended that a long, long time ago.

Mardi Fish, male tennis pro, also has one. They are not even attractive jewlery. It does however, shout to the world, "Look at me! I am a fucking moron!" This is good information to know.

I'll say. Maybe it's time I get a TV again and pay attention to all the shit the rest of the world pays attention to.

Nahhh.

One cannot wish away arthritis or injury, but one can pretend it is doing miracles.

The manufacturers and distributors think it is fortuitous that people are so unbelievably gullibly. To manifest a yacht by selling nonsense is some sort of miracle.

You just wish you could serve even close to as fast as Serena.  The word ace is in bracelet for a reason even for those not smart enough to see that.

From the distributors FAQ:

Q. How do I know if the magnets are working?

A. The most common way to know if the magnets are working is if you feel a reduction in pain. Also, some people who use magnetic therapy experience a warm sensation on the area in which the magnet is placed. Truth be told - everyone responds differently and as often as not no response is felt at all by many who try magnetic therapy bracelets.

(Emphasis mine)

Gee, I wonder why?

Maybe she gets money from sponsors for wearing it.  That would not make the wearing of it be useless.

While being a jerk doesn't. Mm?

I'd rather wear a magnetic bracelet, strive and excel at something than sit at home critising people over the internet. What are you about, man? Do you enjoy doing this? Do you find it fulfilling?

Mad negative energy vibes from you - you will come back as a dung beetle.:crazy2:

Dude, personalisms are not allowed in this forum.  Did you ever consider reading the forum guidelines before coming here to rant at other posters?

When I was around 4-5, me and my sister both got stationary kits. My 6-year old sister blew through hers, then wanted to use mine. I told her no, so she responded by grabbing the kit and dumping it on me. I started to wail, and she figured she would get in trouble with the parents, so she made up a quick lie: "No you don't understand. That's magic dust. You can do anything you want now." Being super impressionable, I decided to do the splits, something I had wanted to do but never quite could. I fearlessly did it. No pain.

I learned to walk the same way. My first steps were done holding a garden hose, as I thought it would support me.

Sometimes an imaginary symbol of hope or strength does its magic just by making people believe in something. That's one of the reasons I think religion survives.

Ok. Understood, and I accept/understand my official warning. However, (while this probably belongs in PM) I must say I’ve looked at OC’s other threads about magnetic bracelets (he has six of them) and haven’t seen him ‘state his case’, provide any sources to refute them or add much ‘intelligent discussion’ on the matter (as required in the guidelines). Instead, he’s just criticised people who wear/sell them. I don’t support the bracelets, but six threads seemingly dedicated to calling people ‘gullible saps’? How is that constructive?

This thread is personalised. OC is calling out Serena Williams. I don't usually resort to name-calling, but I thought I was returning what was being served. How is calling Serena Williams ‘stoopid’ not a personalism? I can appreciate rule 5 and that I am indeed a noob – perhaps I should keep my mouth shut and observe for a while longer - but to allow six threads which offer no insight into the matter being discussed but which rather insult people (and in this case one specific person) seems to me beyond ‘discretion’.

The guidelines state you may “expose the idea under discussion as ludicrous, repugnant or whatever …but the acceptable method is to direct all your weaponry at the IDEA being presented, not at the person presenting the idea.” By my measure, OC is in breach of rules 1 & 4.

EDIT: And I didn't come in here to rant at other posters. I came here for discussion. I offered something (which, admittedly, was less than great) and in response was told I was ignorant and not clever. That wasn't a nice welcome.

Personalisms only refer to the people posting here.

also

If you have a problem with the thread or a post then flag it and give your reasons to the moderators.  This is the proper way to handle this.  OC breaks forum guildlines all the time imo but no one complains. (I have)  If enough people do complain that nonsense will stop.

Serena Williams isn't participating in this thread. The purpose of the rule is so people don't get too butt hurt.
