Starting a new jerb tomorrow, can't sleep

God damnit. I finally found a full time job with benefits and such and my first day there is tomorrow. I really need to get to sleep because I have to get up in 6 hours if I wanna make it there in time. Yeah I know, most people can function on 6 hours of sleep but I can't. I gotta have at least 7. I don't wanna be rusty and exhausted on my first day. I don't even know why I'm nervous to be honest, I'm gonna be doing more or less the same shit I've done for about 13-14 years, but this is a higher up position and whatnot.
Taking something to sleep is out of the question because, well, I gotta get up in 6 hours. Mind's racing too much to meditate or anything like that. Any suggestions? And no, I don't really feel like cranking one out right now.

Just lay down, try your best to clear your head and focusing on relaxing the muscles of your face. That's what I do when its time for sleep.

I usually put on some long ass documentary on ants or something. Works like a charm.

Are you saying ants aren't interesting?
And cool good luck gumby.
Also, if you really don't think you're gonna fall asleep for a while, then get dressed and go outside for a walk. By the time you get up from the computer, go to the bathroom, get an ipod, playlist set up, all that shit and then actually go outside you'll probably realize that you are infact tired and its just your nerves keeping you up. Idk, that would help me.

Dude just get some sleep. Yeah, you might not be good with 6 hours, but you might be underestimating how sleepy you'll be in 6 hours. You don't even need to sleep, just lay down with the lights off and wake up 30 minutes before you need to, drink some coffee/tea. Some kind of rest to clear your mind a bit.

Stare at the most boring thing in your room (with the lights turned off). Don't let yourself stop staring unless you fall asleep. This works.

i'd say your best bet is to just lay down and atleast try to get some rest, even if it's not sleep, its the best option.
sometimes reading before bed can help me nod off to sleep, or laying on the couch and watching something on tv that is really boring can help me nod off to sleep also.

I need to get one of those. I put my alarm clock across the room, with the idea that getting out of bed to turn it off will wake me up, and it has not worked for me so far.

I've been waking up on time. Clocky does the trick.
Fucking new job is killing me though and it's only been two days. Yesterday I worked 11.5 hours, today I worked 14.5... And I don't get overtime because I'm on salary. This shit is fucking ridiculous. If this shit becomes the norm, they better give me some incentive to stay (OT or higher pay), or I'm gonna be applying for new jobs like it's my job.

I can sleep through most alarm clocks, the only two that ever consistently woke me up are long dead, I have 2 I use, one near me and one that's supposed to force me to get up, even the combination of clocks wont do it. doesnt matter though because I wake up after about 3 hours of sleep anyway
