Theres some tandem jumps goin down on Augut 17th for 250 a head. Should I do it?

yes
if you go through the schooling you can do a solo jump, IMO it's a much better
experience. static line is pretty cool too but sometimes it hurts

do it dude, I would... and like pris said do the basic course thing for the solo jump, a buddy of mine did it and really enjoyed the trip

Definitely do it.
Some of my family was in town last week, and I got a chance to meet my great uncle whom I never met before, and he told us stories from when he was in the military and doing jumps over the Congo. It was crazy.
I've always wanted to sky dive and after that encounter I'm going the first chance I can get.
