The first part of the series is pretty trippy and always made me laugh. My favorite part is the drug stores that just say droogz on the front.

It's also part of Mother 1+2, patch is done by the same Mother 3 guys. If you're already using a GBA emulator.

Are you saying they ported the 1st and 2nd games to the GBA, or that they translated them or what?

They released them on a single cartridge for GBA, in Japan. Look up "Mother 1+2".

i just DL'd an NES & sNES Emulators as well as Earthbound: Mother 1 for NES, & Mother 2 for sNES
i decieded to play all the way through instead of Starting at number 3 un the Series.
this is a Great site for Emulators

Well you should experiance Earthbound or mOther two as we call it witht the snes emulation because the gba loses the wav format sound that the snes had.
Once in awhile the game will freeze, i dunno why, it used to do that for the snes too.

Mother you should play GBA, only because it's the more "definitive" version. But yeah, just play original Earthbound for SNES...

The only reason I haven't played through Mother 3 yet is I've had concerns about the translation.
Earthbound had such a subtle but trippy style of humor. I don't know how to english version was conceived and how it compares to the japanese, but I am amazed at how it came together. I guess I should play the fan-translation of Mother 3 a little more first before jumping to conclusions, but as I said I'm only concerned that some magic is lost in this translation
has anyone played it enough to know if the translation captures the subtle humor well?

I'm not too far into it yet so I can't say for sure. I'd bet it will probably be just fine though based on other less known games I've played that were translated.
