WTF is wrong with you people. Can someone please pinpoint to me when this happened? Was it the Tea party movement? When did this whole concept of "Less government" come into play? Is it because the republicans are butt hurt that Obama Won? Were people pulling this bullshit with clinton?
Get over yourselves  Quit complaining about the government when the only direct action they have on you is through taxes. How does the government stop you from doing anything you enjoy (drugs aside). And dont give me the whole DRUGS ARE ILLEGAL, or OMG MY PRECIOUS SHOTGUN THAT I FUCK EVERYNIGHT rant. The government is obviously not stopping you from doing drugs or owning a gun.

It came into play in the late 1700's when a bunch of farmers and businessmen decided that too much government control was fucked up. so they wrote a document called the constitution to tell us EXACTLY what powers the government did have.
It's government of the people, by the people, and for the people--NOT People of the Government, By the Government.

I'm just going to repost this from the other thread because it is relevant to about 80% of political discussion on the shroomery. Although most of the political discussion isn't political discussion - it is mostly comprised of ego stroking and ad hominem attacks.

There has always been a movement to go back to the constitution. This stuff is classical liberalism (now called libertarianism) and is primarily based on John Locke's work which inspired the American Revolution.
As for people being discontented with their government, they have always been there and always will be there. That is, unless we all adopt identical mentalities someday and I don't ever see that happening.
