Whatever you do, never decide to grow pumpkins, those things will take over everything and you'll be finding them for years on both sides of the fence.

Nice setup though:thumbup:

Thanks, ive heard that about pumpkins.  The cucumber took me by surprise, just keeps growing.  I had red pepper growing but the cucumber's vines choked the plant out.

41.8500° N

In the midwest like you.  We were in a drought for a while.  Weeks of temps from high 90s to 100s without a cloud in the sky.  Whenever i'd water something during the day it would vaporize in minutes.  So when night hit, i would let the hose sit in the bed for like 30 mins and flood things.  Often times in the intense heat i would water the plants like 4 or 5 times throughout the day.  Grab a smoke and water them while i was out there.  Recently bought a sprinkler and have been leaving that on for an hour at a time.

So all the sunlight and water it could handle.

The cucumber has already reached the wood trellis i made, wrapping itself around it.  Id love to see a time lapse of a cucumber.

Pretty good now that you mention it, i got more pins :pipesmoke:  The tub is just a cover for the outdoor bed, retain a little more humidity. Take a look in the growlogs for my out door grow.  The vines of the cucumber are stretching out toward the mushroom bed as if to say" HEY whats going on over here?"

damn, dude. we are right near each other with respect to latitude. your cukes and maters look awesome. sounds like you were watering more than me through the drought. maybe that's the problems with my cukes. i'll post pics of them later.

I don't think you pc pickles.  You boil water and vinegar with a bunch of pickling salt, a little garlic, and dill.  You make a brine.  After it cools you pour it in a clean jar filled with cucumbers.  That's the only way I've heard how to make pickles.

I cleaned a quart jar and filled it with pickle juice from another jar in my fridge.  The easy, lazy but still good way.  Its all about texture with pickles, since the cucumber was super fresh and firm it should make delicious pickles.

If you don't keep your pickles in the fridge they will get mushy.  Putting a little alum will help a bit.  Last year I made pickles and while the flavor was awesome they were soft.i didn't keep them in the fridge.  A friend of mine mentioned using a grape leaf but I haven't tried that yet.  (I have wild muscadines on my property).  But a pinch of alum def helped when I did pickled green tomatoes.

Alum, never heard of it before today.  For pickles ive heard to use smaller cucumbers as they make a more crisp pickle.  Although the cucumber i picked was rather large it was young and very crisp, should be good.  I like to keep the pickles i make in the fridge, didnt know it helped keep them crisper.

I've never had pickled green tomatoes, maybe i'll give it a try when i harvest some tomatoes.

Useing Sea salt in replacement of table salt, helps in keeping them crisp...
