^The picture at the top. It says they're magic mushrooms but what kind? I just found a whole army of these in a huge pile of dead wood.

They're not hallucinogenic, they're Coprinus comatus.

Check this out....
You may think you have those mushrooms but maybe in fact a look a like. Where did you get them? From a dealer? From the outside?
Where did they grow.  You have to give us some more information to properly help you. Have any pics.

I didn't see the above post. Well apparently your shrooms aren't hallucinogenic. But if you do some reading you can find out what species grow in your area and what they look like...time of year to find them etc....

Aw, that's a shame. That article misguided me I guess. And I found them in a pile of dead wood, as I stated in my original post. I just found them today. I live in East Tennessee.

Actually, I looked up pictures and all the others pictures don't look quite like the ones in the link I sent. The ones I found look JUST like the picture, while other pictures have a slightly different shape and color. Also, after leaving them under pressure for a while, the ones I found bruise a really deep blue throughout the entire cap.

Are you gonna provide us with photos and an accurate description or just keep dragging us along?

Haha sorry, I forgot about that. The ones I have in my bag look slightly different than some of the others growing from the wood that resemble the photograph more accurately (I thought they looked kind of rotten but the photograph made me think otherwise) but I suppose I could take some pictures with my webcam. Don't own a camera unfortunately.

Also, as a note, it appears they left a black stain on my fingers after excessive handling. Spore print perhaps?

Sorry about bad quality. I don't have a lot of money. They are stained a deep blue/purple in these pictures but it's hard to tell. I'll try adjusting my webcam settings next time.

Nah, the blue/purple is just either black spore deposit or the mushroom "deliquescing" which means turning to black goo essentially. Your mushrooms are not magic, and are likely a Coprinopsis species; an inky cap.

Yeah, I replied to this thread saying I did some more research and determined that they were probably not magic but my post didn't show up apparently.

I collected another species from cow dung all around my field and I'll post pictures of those in a separate thread later.
