1992 team would kill the 2012 team
You have to look no further than the Centers.
A Davis is hurt and not playing. So the only real center is Tyson Chandler.
That doesnt compare to Patrick Ewing and David Robinson. Then at PF you have Barkley and Malone.
That's a roster where 10 of the 12 players are Hall of Famers
Best team every assembled.
Now if the 2012 team had Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Andrew Bynum, then it might be a different story, but 1992 was too big of a team.

I suspect this team will eventually have a similar number of Hall of Famers from it but you are right that they are a bit light in the post. Neither Bird nor Laetner were worth a shit in 1992 and I've always thought the fat fuck spitter was vastly over-rated.

I don't think LeBron or Kobe even compare to Jordan. I actually enjoyed watching basketball back in those days, can't really say the same now.

I love when people who are new to the sport say stuff like "the guys today are just much more athletic," if you really think that, go back and watch some bulls from 1992, some knicks, some pacers. Those Guards were playing in an NBA where hard fouls were common and you didnt get up and cry afterwards. Watch Tim Hardaway, Magic, Jordan, Reggie Miller and tell me those guys wouldnt dominate today.
With the exception of LeBron, Kobe, and Durant this years team is just average really. I could throw Paul in there but he hasnt won anything yet

It's a pointless argument anyways.
USA basketball is always a dominant world force and dream team marked the first time NBA players were allowed to compete and forever changed world basketball. Nothing will ever compare to dream team, which is why that name was given and has stuck.

Nigeria wasnt an awful team. I mean they clearly qualified for the Olympics and have a couple solid players on their team
The USA just played one of the best games of basketball I have ever seen. And they had the best shooting game that I have ever seen out of any basketball team, on any level. They shot like 70+% from 3 and over 80% FG. That is incredible.

I dont care if there wasnt even another team on the court. Shooting that well is extremely difficult to do. Carmelo has been a beast this entire Olympics, he is by far the MVP of the team.
I cant wait to see how Melo does this season in the NBA. Too bad the Knicks suck and Stoudimire is one of the most overrated players

Knicks need him to play like he is right now, as a spot up shooter. The Knicks did a good job bringing in a PG and a SG to help facilitate to Melo. The Knicks are going to be competitive to at least make the playoffs.
I would have loved to see Dwight end up in Brooklyn cause I think they Nets are going to be a tough tough team with the moves they made adding Joe Johnson. Brook Lopez will need to live up to that massive contract they gave him

Both are hall of famers, but I think I agree. Dude is about 7-feet and has got a great 3-point shot. Still needs to work on his all-around game, but I don't even think he's 24 yet.
And this team has shown they can be beat, or at least played tight, as Lithuania hung with them. Usually happens when they settle for threes and don't get second-effort points. But they got LeBron who can just take over whenver, so I'm not too worried about them losing. I don't know if Spain is that good or not either. They don't seem to be playing Serge Ibaka which makes no sense to me. I would either play him with both Gasols or have him out there with one of the Gasols, since he is actually quick enough to defend, where the Gasols are more skilled but slow as shit.
