You're right it is the taboo that would stop me. Some taboos exist for a reason. It's almost surely my social taboo programming but I wouldn't go closer than a 3rd cousin.

Because it's your family. Would you have sex with your sister or your mother? A tenth of the population may be a distant cousin of some sort, but that doesn't mean it's okay to fuck your first cousin.
