I didn't steer the subject in that direction, you did.  Right after I pointed out the forum errors I steered right back to the movie/texting argument.  You are the one that kept the argument centered around that insignificant comment, as part of an attempted distraction because you were losing in the other arena.

when it comes to giving a quantitative analysis of an argument, you have to see who's holding their ground and who isn't. you first attacked my argument via ad hominem by saying they were "snobbish and patronizing". i pointed out that they were neither and restated my argument by pointing out that it's a simple fact that the behavior you're defending is widely viewed as rude. then you tried to counter and say my statements were "closeminded", going back to ad hominem and drawing an absolutely ridiculous analogy by comparing the politics of the drug war and people's apparent birthright to be as rude as they want in public. i then informed you of the absurdity of this argument, to which you replied it's "controversial", which is yet another twist.

btw, if it's so controversial why does every movie theatre run a short spot before every feature asking people for to turn off their phones?

then seeing no other choice you chose to attack my analogy of being distracted while watching tv by an off screen light as grounds for justification of your argument. then you brought in the forum errors and then tried to turn it around as if i'm the one constantly changing the subject, to which i pointed out was all wrong, and added my observation that you are an extraordinarily shitty arguer, to which you then basically replied "i know you are but what am i?".

so again, who's doing all the squirming here?

This came off as snobbish and patronizing.  This implied that my side/opinion didn't matter.

I said you were close-minded because you tried to support your argument by saying that it was backed by popular opinion.  I called your comment close-minded because it asserted that if something is popular, it is right.  I don't see a problem here.

Like I said before, I only momentarily alluded to the forum errors for the first introductory sentence in my previous post.  I quickly brought the argument back on track with the rest of my post.  My posts are set and stone and anyone can simply view it here and see that you're wrong, so I don't really know who you're trying to fool:

You're the one that dragged the forum-fuck-up argument far, far beyond where it needed to go. 

We have already come to a conclusion on the movie/texting argument, so if it weren't for your unnecessary insistence on carrying about the forum-fuck-up comment argument and misinterpretation of just about everything I said, we would have no reason to still be arguing.
