Cuban pf tek in ziplock bag. Picture heavy. Completed

Okay, so I wanted to do this as cheaply as possible, just to show it can be done. I got all my supplies from walmart . I simply made a FC out of a one gallo. Ziplock bag, poked holes in it. Put a 3-4 inches of perlite at the bottom, and sat the cake on a piece of foil. Misted and fanned ONCE a day.

Sadly, I forgot my scale at home and couldn't provide a wet weight but I will be updating with a dry weight.

Very nice.
I bet you hardly need the perlite either. It is providing humidity yes, because it's wet, but the SGFC uses it to humidify the air based on the principle that the air flows up through the wet perlite. It can't do so with your method.
But that's quite fine! If you ask me, with the daily misting you're giving it as well as with the cake itself inside, you can do without the perlite and just have the bag alone as a form of humidity tent.

I took my wife camping at the kern river, ca. I prepared around 1.7 into a tea and had a very uplifting light trip. It left me wanting more. However the next morning my wife ate her 1.5 dry ( was her first time ) and she reported vivid CEV's and little to no OEV's. She enjoyed it quite a bit, I was a little jelous but mostly proud of how well she handled herself. She Didn't even throw up (I did though )
We are patiently awaiting our next flush.

You puked from 1.7 grams in a tea? I couldn't imagine that! I have the most ridiculous iron stomach you could imagine though. I've actually kept down 60 grams of peruvian torch which was powdered and turned into playdough basically. When it came out the other end though it made me wish I had puked it up. Also kept down 10 grams of dried cubes quite a few times.
Happy to hear your wife had a good trip. It's so amazing to be able to see someone trip for the first time. It's very rewarding to be able to give someone that experience.

I know! I thought for sure the tea would keep me from puking. It was shitty tasting though, green tea doesn't mix with mushroom... Next time I'll try ginger + more shrooms. Quote:

Why don't you just eat them? If they're dried and stored properly I think they taste amazing.

I'm definitely going to do this, but convert to a monotub style, with two large holes with a bit of polyfill. I think you need the perlite to help maintain the humidity, since the cakes give off none when compared with what a bulk substrate produces. Just having it in there will saturate the air a bit. I dont have enough perlite for a whole sgfc so this will work good I hope.

Like I said, between the cake itself and daily misting I'm sure the perlite isn't necessary. After all, the air being exchanged is not going through the perlite a la SGFC, so it is humidifying the air by the same means of slow evaporation as the cake and other water in the chamber are already. Having more material holding water would probably only make the necessity of misting less-frequent for humidity, but as the cake probably needs it anyway, the misting is ultimately no less necessary.
I bet it works almost the same without perlite.
