Maybe the Chinese Restaurant Syndrome is just in peoples minds.

That's what the evidence so far shows, yes.

If you blind people in the study so they don't know for sure if they're eating Chinese food with MSG added or not, the symptoms appear with the exact same distribution as they do in a control group that did not get the MSG. Exactly as would be expected from random chance. In other words, the MSG has no discernible effect and the syndrome is in fact in people's minds.

I'm always open to new study results, but so far, it is a made up malady that doesn't appear unless the person knows ahead of time that they're eating added MSG. Then, of course, they get all the symptoms they're expecting to get.

Not unlike autism and vaccines. The increased prevalence claimed by hypochondriac parents is simply not present in the hard numbers no matter how you slice them. What's actually happening is that autistic kids typically first exhibit symptoms at the same age the vaccines are administered. And parents ignorant of basic immunology and statistics principles invent causation where it doesn't exist.

That would make sense since MSG is an excitotoxin.

Not MSG, but glutamate. And so what? Glutamate is a natural substance as well. You can't live without it in fact. Too much can be harmful. Again, so what? Too much water can be harmful too. Too much oxygen is toxic.

In the quantities typically used in food, neither water, oxygen, nor glutamate are harmful. At least as far as any credible study to-date has shown.

Yes you are very correct about food choice in, in particular. It is sick what some people cram into their bodies.
And I also think she gets too much sugar as well.
But personally, I think she's 5! She's sposed to be a hyper little fucker!
She just tends to do stupid things with her energy, at times, and this is when her parents lay down and say there's a problem. All the while I'm thinking , yeah, YOU! I think attention is a driving factor with this child, particularly being the middle child, too.
it's insane what they want to diagnose in 5 y/o these days.

I obviously don't make the child's diet.
I think moderation and balance are the keys to healthy living myself.
Anyway, is there anyway to convince a little girl that she should act only in ways that she could be considered a princess? Maybe that will calm her.
Fuck she runs circles around the yard all day and then still has a ton of energy at 10pm!

Yeah she's a kid!  Probably gets more than her fair share of sugar too.  Sugar is a potent drug look at its virtual immediate effect on blood sugar levels!  The more refined the faster the effect.  An apple less quick than apple sauce less quick than unfiltered apple juice less quick than filtered apple juice.

I just don't get why people expect kids to be less than hyper.  Boys in particular just don't want to sit still and let's face it school is super boring and sucky with the wrong teacher.

Anyway the crap people eat nowadays is just horrid.  I look at their food purchases then at them and they are bloated sickly individuals.  It all fits regardless of double blind tests.

Well, you have to understand that these hyper kids tend to be/act destructive on other "regular" kids.

If you dont see that, i advice you to work a year or two in a kindergarten, in that place you will see what pattern kids move into and the "hyper" ones tend to "ruin" for the other children. Im not talking about sitting stil drawing rainbows and hearts here, more when the kids are outside playing.

This child, I'm posting of.
The other night at 11pm when she was sposed to be sleeping for atleast an hour, climbed up on her dresser/mirror piece of furniture thing.
And proceeded to climb/more yank the mirror attached behind dresser , at which time it crashes down upon her. I'm still wondering how she clambered away from it only sustaining a small skin scrape, but otherwise was left completely uninjured.
Luckily her sister was not home at the time or the thig very well may have fell on top of her.
I mean there was broken shards of glass EVERYWHERE.
Holy shit.
I thought the baby's crib, that I had put together a day previous, had fallen to pieces with the baby in it! It was loud and scared the shit out of me.
I told her she was lucky she was not hurt.
But I see how you can say this can be injurious to other kids, her and her sisters relationship is even a screwEd fact in itself.
Ugh.
Poor child is all I think when I see it.

WHO CAN JUSTIFY PROFESSIONALLY JUDGING A CHILD AS DEFECTIVE? THOSE WHO CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT RESTING ON THEIR LAURELS OF BELIEF, ON A POSTUREPEDIC BED PAID FOR WITH THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT.

Try quinoa for protein, its a grain that is a complete protein. And Kale, its a green that has a lot of minerals the body needs. Eggs are a great source of protein and minerals too.
