the repugnicans ..mussolini redux?...
    #16495661 - 07/07/12 05:21 PM (10 months, 9 days ago)

the right-wing shills here (and you know who you are) are constantly accusing me of using the f- word without knowing what it means...

of course their wrong (as is always the case)...i know exactly what it means.. to wit..the only govt that could correctly be called "fascist" was mussolini.. which is what makes the following screed so interesting..because they actually do use the f- word correctly ..

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/05/15/republican-party-fascist/

Quote:

Another major aspect of fascism is its relationship with corporations. In 1925 the Fascist regime in Italy created a corporatist economic system. In theory, Fascist Corporatism is supposed to give unions a voice but in practice, that’s not what it did in Italy and Germany in the 1930′s. The Fascist regime first created a Ministry of Corporations that organized the Italian economy into 22 sectoral corporations, banned workers’ strikes and lock-outs. Even Hitler banned unions. This is similar to how corporations were before America declared its independence. At that time, corporations such as the Massachusetts Bay Company, controlled entire colonies. The Founding Fathers hated this practice so much they rebelled against it and set many restrictions against the corporate world they abhorred so much. Republicans are attempting to reintroduce this idea that corporations should run states and the government.

the article implies that mussolini coercively selected 22 winners and the rest losers.. and this is prolly correct...however..mussolini himself infamously defined fascism generically as "the merger of corporate power and state power"...it is important to note that this definition does not specify the nature of this merger...

for example.. in the soviet version of fascism..the bolsheviks were subsumed into a cartel of arms manufacturers.. the CEOs of which became the politburo ..

Quote:

Officially, the Party Congress elects a Central Committee which, in turn, elects the politburo and General Secretary in a process termed democratic centralism. Thus, the politburo was theoretically responsible to the Central Committee. Under Stalin this model was reversed, and it was the General Secretary who determined the composition of the Politburo and Central Committee. This tendency decreased to some extent after Stalin's death, though in practice the Politburo remained a self-perpetuating body whose decisions de facto had the force of law.

(it is also interesting to note that both the soviets and the US neocons claimed that their imperialist wars were to "liberate" the ppl they were subjugating)...

the US version is similar except that the politburo consists of different types of corporations in addition to the arms manufacturers...nor is there an actual politburo as such.. but rather there are several different organizations that could claim to be the politburo at different times...currently it is ALEC..in the past it has also been the US chamber of commerce.. the business roundtable.. and the american enterprise institute...

the article draws the comparison w/ mussolini because the repugs are actively and overtly aiding and abetting this process ..

They’ve already called for privatizing policemen and the military and they already allow the Koch brothers to call the shots. It won’t be long before they introduce corporatism. Marxists accuse fascism of being a capitalist tyranny that attempts to make conservative reaction popular to the working class but in practice represses the working class. Even Lenin claimed that “Fascism is capitalism in decay.” Fascists dismantled working-class organizations, significantly reduced wages in certain areas, abolished taxes on inheritance and war profits. Republicans seek to do ALL of these things. They have called for an end to the minimum wage, are ending union rights state by state, most recently in Wisconsin where Republicans slammed through an anti-union bill illegally, and seek to destroy any and all corporate taxes and taxes on the wealthy.

unlike mussolini..howver..the repugs dont seem interested in deciding which corporations are the "winners" (ie the US virtual politburo).. but seem more than happy to let them duke it out for themselves...

but although the aformentioned shills will no doubt angrily dispute that the logical end constitutes "fascism".. there is also no doubt that it will pass the walk-like-a-duck-talk-like-a-duck test...

Oddly there is a political leader in the US that is exactly interested in deciding which corporations are winners.  His name is Barack Hussein Obama.  See GM, Chrysler, Solyndra, other assorted failed alt energy co.s and all the companies granted Obamacare waivers.

This had to be quoted for posterity.  She quotes extensively from history texts and adds a fair amount of content herself and in the last sentence denies the premise of her entire post.
