Einstein said gravity is the result of the curvature of space-time.
Its relative to the mass of the object I think? Could be some kind of manipulation of that possible...

Mass and the square of distance I believe. I would think that the establishment of the Higgs Boson as fact would have a lot to do with the gravity particle since it is what imbues mass.
Solar will never come close to filling our energy needs. We need to make our own suns or we are doomed. It really is a shame that more money isn't spent on it. Instead we are dumping billions into a pointless mission to Mars.

Seriously, fusion works. We see the evidence around us all day. Turning that concept into usable power is just a matter of paying to find out how.

"Science" is as political and religious as ever.
Very few "scientists" out there are actually looking for truth.
Look at the medical field in relation to drug use or psychotherapy in relation to "mental disease".
People see "scientists" and see smart people. Most scientists are good at rote memorization, because that's what science demands today.
That produces a lot of data, sometimes accurate, sometimes not. Often though the interpretations of the data are based on less than objective viewpoints in search of whatever may be found rather than specific and predictable searches that "find" specific and predictable sets of data that are being sought after.
The truth is elusive, and yet right in front of your face.

I think everyone interested in this supposed discovery should read this.
This is one of many places you can read about why scientists sometimes get carried away in the wrong direction.
Read another viewpoint.
Edit: The guy who wrote the article I linked to worked for NASA, so don't dismiss it outright because of it's title. Whether it intrigues you or you think it's BS doesn't really matter. At least you can hear a different opinion about something that is taught as fact pretty much and may in fact just be another theory that will be thrown in the waste bin of history along with epicycles.
i only read the beginning of that. Whatever his argument is, he argues it in a shitty manipulative way. No one thought the earth was flat back in the day, they knew the shape and almost exact size of the earth and the distance from the earth to the sun like 300bc

Even though, as DieCommie already said, finding the Higgs Boson and solidifying the theory of the Higgs field does not necessarily mean a great leap in physics in and of itself, I think it's certainly one step closer to reconciling quantum mechanics and general relativity (especially in terms of quantum gravity). The sooner we understand gravity, the sooner a unified field theory can come to fruition, and that's a huge step.

i think some people tend to get caught up with confusing scientific models with reality itself, and there is as much dogmatism in science as any other field. but you can't write off science because of the way people are any more than you can any other institution (including religion).

Think of science in relation to the judicial system. Law is an ever changing set of ideas... As culture changes, and philosophies evolve, the law adapts. So does science rely on the narrative of the status quo and the times we live and die in. That is one aspect where Einstein will be universally true: Everything is relative to the perspective. If you expand your view to a greater perspective; your undersdtanding of the truth or of what is really going on will be greater.
Quantum theory and mechanics.... string theory... hmmm... All particles that exist at the smallest level are nothing more than a bunch of vibrating strings? Is that why We get so groovy feeling when we listen to good music? Is that why I like jammin on my guitar? Is there a universal wave that the entire universe can sync to? Groovy man.

You seem to be confusing basic scientific research with commercialisation of that research. I'd say the vast majority are in search of truth and understanding, why else would they spend all their lives working on something?
And rote memorisation is what science damands? Its what your high school science class probably demanded of you but is not a part of research at all. How do you think discoveries are made if all scientists were just going around memorising things as truth undisputed fact?
And sorrt The Ecstatic, I didn't see your suggestion in time
