 Quick question. (Wild Tobacco?)

Does wild tobacco commonly grow in Texas?
I was out walking around yesterday and spotted a plant with fairly large leaves resembling that of tobacco plants. There weren't any flowers on it yet, so I couldn't I.D. it easily. I tore of a leaf and crumbled it to see if would smell like tobacco, but it only smelled like chlorophyll. Do fresh leaves smell like tobacco?
I'll probably go out and take some pictures tomorrow.

When you crushed up the leaf what did it feel like? Was is resinous?

It seemed to hold a lot of water, but wasn't sticky.

After taking another look, I have to say I'm not too sure about this one. 
The leaves look about right, but they aren't connected going up the main stalk like the pictures I see from google. They all seem to be coming from a center point out of the ground. It might be because it hasn't bolted and started to flower?
What do ya'll think?

not any type of tobacco,that stuff grows all over here too,and I'm not sure what it is.
