I found this is one of my puerto rican monotubs that had been neglected. It appears the gills grew straight out of the cap and tha cap has not opened at all. Has anyone seen this before? It is fascinating to me!

The mutation you are seeing could be what is called 'rose comb'.
When I first started lurking on this forum nobody posted all these absurd gifs.

iv got same problem going on gills turning out be for the skirt brakes and no spores coming out of the caps that dont do this white gills also a high growth of mycelia on top of the caps i had a mushroom grow straight out the top of another like out the top of the cap i am thinking it might be top warm and humidity to high im no shur what i do know is my spelling sucks i will try and find some pics for you boys and girls

It's rosecomb, and it's usually caused by contact with hydrocarbon solvents. So you're probably using too much Lysol or something.
