Not sure. Got any underside shots?

Might be Pholiota communis. Or possibly Stropharia sp.

Certainly Omphalotus, not sure if Omphalotus nidiformis though. The two on the left are O. nidiformis, the right is an unidentified Omphalotus.

It's Agaricus. Not sure if Agaricus campestris.

Don't know sorry, cool find though!

All of your gyms are Cortinarius.  Gyms rarely grow on the ground and Cortinarius always does.  In the future make sure your gyms are growing directly from wood.

The last 4 photos are a Gymnopilus along the lines of Gymnopilus allantopus

The Pholiota is probably Pholiota multicingulata

All of the shrooms that were picked came with a big chunk of bark. It looks like soil but they were growing from rotting wood. Cortinarius is not something that ive heard of growing around the here. I actualy met a mycoligy survay group while i was out hunting the other day. They said Gym A.

There are many Cortinarius species that grow in Western Australia. It is quite a common genus.

What is Gym A?

Matching pictures online is not a very good way to identify mushrooms. Especially if you're using google images. Here is a pic of G. allantopus for you to compare.

Yes, they are.

Thanks for your reply TimmiT. The area these were collected from is rather small and has been somewhat well studied.  I have a decent idea of what to expect there. Not that a rare one couldn't slip in ...

Gym A. = G. allantopus. There are only 2 likely Gyms for this patch.

But seriously have a look at your pictures of Pholiota multicingulata and then tell me you suspect that over Omphalotus nidiformis.

Sorry, I read your post before you edited it and thought you were debating the G. allantopus ID

I'm not sure what Pholiota N is. The abbreviations are confusing. It's best to use full species names so that everyone knows what you're talking about.

Looking at your pics again I think the mushrooms I was calling a Pholiota are actually more Gymnopilus allantopus. I never disputed the Omphalotus ID and agree that's what they are.

lol. All that editing makes for a very confusing conversation.

The second lot appear to be Gymnopilus purpuratus, but the gills look very light. Did you get a spore print?

a friend collected that one. Im going to go back and get a print myself soon. He claimed the gills looked the same yellowish color as the Gyms in first batch of photos, also same whiteish stem.

Is there anything nasty that it could be? If so what am i looking for. I value your help greatly.
