It's hard for me to understand the levity of what he's done in terms of how it affects his victims.
It's such a foreign concept for me to even try to grasp. But based on society's reaction I can tell it must be pretty horrible and haunting to his victims. Specifically and to what extent, I can only guess...

This case was so huge, and so utterly horrifying, that anything short of the rest of his life would cause a massive outcry both by the public and the media.

The new report by the former head of the FBI makes paterno look like a fucking piece of shit. It's so terrible I think penn state should lose their football program maybe forever.

ok, i still don't understand why paterno and the football program itself is being so heavily punished for this?
paterno supposedly saw the dude in a shower or something, but it's not like he had full on confirmation he was a child molester, right?
i dunno, i don't really know what's going on w/ this...just that some dude raped kids and now all of penn state is in trouble for it.

Paterno heard the first complaint in 98 then one of his assistant coaches told him he saw a kid taking it in the ass with his own eyes in 2002. Still he let Sandusky bring kids into the stadium until 2011. Paterno was ignoring it and watching game films while just yards away Sandusky was pounding prepubescent ass after ass.

I agree with most of the sanctions except taking away some 100+ wins from Joe Paterno.
The scandal had nothing to do with competitive advantage or really anything to do with the football program except that the rapes happened at sports facilities.
I would have been fine with a 2 year ban on post-season play but whatever.
Joe Pa will still be the coach with most wins all time in my eyes and the scandal doesnt really make me think anything less of him, it should but it just doesnt.... Jerry Sandusky is the one who committed the crimes and he will pay by spending the rest of his life in prison, where he will be the one getting raped
