Around here, west coast/nor-cal/SF bay area, it seems to be getting bigger & bigger every weekend....and I do believe the SF area is the heart/epicenter of US Bass music.

really because right now in the U.K. and elsewhere in europe there is a (somewhat) new bass sound emerging that builds off the earlier sound of the likes of digital mystikz, kryptic minds, distance, loefah, etc. that is being referred to as "dungeon" sound which is basically like minimal dark and nuanced bass music being spearheaded by artists such as v.i.v.e.k., quest, truth, biome, thelem, district, tunnidge, commodo to name a few.
this dungeon sound is way more expansive and has a big upside in the euro bass culture, it's basically taking over and is pretty much the future progression of real dubstep.
so no, dubstep, at least in this form, is most certainly not on its way out.

Right on. I'll check it out. I like tunes that make me feel like the world is ending. I think a lot of these guys are on the Get Darker compilations. The guys at the bass parties here in Denver definitely play UK kinda shit though. It's not all overseas.
