I think the hungry ghosts are the ones drinking, the orbs are just floating dead people.
I don't have a drink as often as I think I want a drink but when I drink that balances out. Gratitude for growing out of blacking out, then even doing stupid shit and being arrested, still don't pace myself enough sometimes. Definitely past dissing the drink, better to drink and offer drink to the spirits, after all one day I'm moving into their neighborhood.

I abstain from alcohol based on just a personal choice. Alcohol is poison to the body, and no one gains anything from alcohol, unlike others drugs. Also, people get into a stupor while intoxicated and become belligerent at times.
but to each, their own.

Get some good drink and it's cool. White rum is yummy but beer is kind of gross to get intoxicated on.
Hard liquor has a good place for me when I'm using some good recreational at hand.
I find use for benadryl and that is 0% recreational

I've been feeling revulsion on the whole alcohol experience now, I refuse to control my behaviour, but won't mind if this revulsion stays permanently. There is this strange concept of avoiding all active alcoholics as our ancestors avoided lepers. This may not affect all of my personalities, could be like a pendulum.

I know how you feel.
This is my rebellious point of view. The Man wants you to buy and consume as much alcohol as possible. Why do you think he spends so much time and money out of his own pocket to catch your attention through ads featuring scantily clad women and random entertaining scenes in commercials that have little to do whatsoever with the product being sold? To get more money. There's no love. Only lust. Money is power. Power corrupts. He says "drink responsibly," but he doesn't truly care. He just wants to see a profit. He knows thousands will beat their wives, crash their cars, get in fights, and act downright recklessly, but it's not his fault. There'll always be irresponsible people. It's not his fault... right.
I hate to sound like a senile rickety old prohibitionist from the roaring 20's era. But I personally feel like the world would simply be better off if all of society just gave up alcohol and learned to have a good time without killing their own brain cells. Sure, cool guys like you and I can "drink responsibly," but even then, I can't stand the feeling of not being fully in control. And having to follow the trend and do what everybody else does just because it's popular. That's almost like slavery, from my standpoint. I feel like I should learn to be confident, entertaining and happy-go-lucky the old fashioned way, without having to consume large amounts of something that my body struggles to filter out ASAP. It's not worth that hungover, drained, cloudy feeling. And in training to reach my full potential, it's only another speed bump, and I've got enough of those already.
But that's just my opinion. I try to stay away from fast food too. Anything that doesn't seem natural.

I've been not drinking alcohol for about 3 months now. I used to drink quite a bit of beer almost every night. It feels good to wake up every morning not hung over, and I find myself going to meditation much more regularly, and just all around happier in general. I do still smoke tons of marijuana though, but I just don't really notice the same negative side effects from it.

I think I already drank my quota of alcohol in my life. My body doesn't like it anymore. I brew world class beer but can't even do that cause then it's available in quantity. It's a bad drug I have a high tolerance to or used to. Now it just mostly makes me sick. I hate the feeling too the dullness the pass out afternoons. What a lousy drug. People really suck on it the worst is watching others drink when you are sober. What a bunch of noisy assholes.

Sometimes I can have a good time with a couple drinks (literally a couple, not "a couple"). However, I'm sure I would have a better time on a cleaner and smarter social lubricant, like an entactogen, if it were socially acceptable.
Alcohol does have an allure because the initial effects can be quite pleasant, but I just have to remind myself of the whole experience when I am tempted to drink much alcohol.

As a brewer and mead maker a big part of the allure for me is comparison tasting. That and when you make world class beer it's easier to become addicted. Someone offers me a Coors Light and I can easily refuse. Mostly though at some point it is just a horrible experience. I suppose for most it depends on what that point is. Like right now I could start drinking again because I forgot how bad things get. Well not completely or I would. But you know in a few months maybe the situation comes up and I go to the beer tasting. Next Feb. is the big contest at the least I have to have a brew ready to sample. So have to brew. The sad part is I really love to make beer. People offer to buy it from me which is illegal and really not worth that much effort for a few $$. It takes some work and effort and I am not going to commit a felony just to sell at what amounts to less than minimum wages...

I understand that, there is a whole culture around the simple act of taking the drug, as well as producing it, and I see how it could be interesting to be involved notwithstanding the almost inevitable side effect of mild to moderate alcoholism. But, there are other hobbies and pursuits to be had.

Still, when the hops get ripe I will be forced to brew the winning batch of hoppy beer. I am having a very cool cup designed so I will have to win yet again to capture the glory. But yeah homebrewing and craft brewing is a big deal esp here in the PNW.
