the reason a constitutional amendment was used for allcohol prohabition was not because it had to be. it was because one had never been repealled, and they wanted it to stick so they chose to amend the constitution. the same reason some want to amend it now to ban gay marrage, because they want it to stick and not be repealled. amendments take 2/3 majority to repeal.

Yep, and they saw that prohibition had created an enormously destructive and dangerous environment of underground sales and distribution, and also, that it literally created the Mafia in the USA.
Does not sound familiar to today's situation at all
