After seeing a few friends of mine are catching a caravan of busses to the next Rainbow Gathering, I'm seriously considering going myself, possibly bringing my lady. It all sounds beautiful on paper, but I've heard varying things about the "Rainbow Family" and the Gatherings.
I figured I'd ask the Shroomery to share their past experiences at the Gatherings, good or bad. Did the "Family" show you love and hospitality? Was the presence of the police overbearing, did it make you feel uncomfortable, or anxious at any time?
I know there have been some fucked up Gatherings where the cops got out of hand. Has anyone had any run-ins with counterfeit "Family" (Rainbow as well as Grateful Dead) members?
All in all, was the experience worth the trip, and investment of time & energy?
