SGMILKJUG!?
    #16373720 - 06/13/12 12:38 AM (11 months, 4 days ago)

Hey muh bros,

I'm all about following teks but I also really enjoy experimenting by myself.
Although I just said i'm all about following tek's , I may or may not have messed up a SGFC by making much too many 1/4inch holes in it.
Struggling with humidity for about 5 days now and keeping in mind I will not have a paycheck for quite some time, I decided to improvise.

No soda bottles were available and I do not live at the site that I am growing. ( No, i'm not leaving them for someone else to go down for in case something went wrong, it's my property that no one lives in. )
I found a milk jug and decided to combine the idea of a PMFC and SGFC.
I poked a 1/4 inch hole in each side of the jug in the middle, and a few near the top of the jug aswell. I added about an inch of moist perlite on the bottom and transferred my cake into the jug.

I cut a flap in the side of the jug big enough for the cake to fit in and taped it down. Serves as kind of a door I suppose. It is now sitting on a shelf with my 6500k light attached to the shelf shining down on it. Obviously doing a 12on/12off light schedule for now.

Will this potentially create enough humidity for pinning?
Potential cobweb? Sooo sick of the stuff.
Looking for input on this and whether anyone has done anything of the sort before.

Thanks, guys!

Just spend $10 on a tub and make an SGFC for christ's sake.

If I had 10 bucks that I could even spare on a damn tub I would.
Lolling.

Anyways, back to the original question.

Will this create enough humidity to start pinning?
I appreciate the fact that you acknowledged the leave your thoughts portion of the thread. You did ignore the questions though.
After you see tons of views and no comments, you've got to encourage comments in some form, way or fashion.

inb4 poor jokes. Heard enough already.

No "inb4" poor jokes here.
Or any for that matter.
Seriously tho, that won't be ideal at all.  The answer to your questions is: "no."
You may get some fruits, but it is not an ideal setup. And yes, potential cobweb contam issue.

If the answer to my question is no, how would I get fruits?
Not asking if this is ideal, simply was asking, again, if humidity would be correct to get fruits.

Also, you're legitimately complaining about my inb4? :blowjob:

Elaborate on the contam issue, please. Curious to know how, if properly sanitized before hand, contam would be a concern other than cobweb due to poor air flow?

Do some research.  Your snarky shit won't get you answers around here.
Lack of FAE favors all contams. Cobweb is one of many. Humidity alone does not produce fruits.
Good luck.

The way you came into this thread is exactly how I responded.

Either way, thanks for the input. Was all I was asking for.

As the only one who came into this thread to advise you, I'd like to say that I told you the best advice one could give: build an SGFC with a tub. This implies your setup is not ideal.
I made no jokes, and told you i would not make any. I don't see how this involves your suck-my-dick blowjob emote. That is snarky shit that is unnecessary.

In regards to the FAE, I realize that it's a necessity.
If I was offensive, I apologize. I'm here to learn, not cyber battle, lol.

The jug, like I said, is a mixture almost of the pop bottle fruiting chamber and a SGFC.
The cap is still removed 2-3 times a day for FAE, but there are probably 6 1/4 inch holes throughout the jug.

How would this affect it negatively is I guess what's confusing me.
I don't feel like the setup is at all wrong. Definitely not ideal, but not at all wrong.

It's all good.
Removing the cap is not a substitute for FAE. There's no way you'll be able to fan that properly. How did you mess up your SGFC with too many holes?  Every two inches is fine, did you make more?

Great, so you think that this is entirely possible for the fruits to grow in?

Yeah man, I definitely have a lot more holes in it than that. I even tried to repair it using saran wrap around the entire thing and poking holes through that around 2 inches apart. Just ended up having to spray h202 on my sexy cobweb.

You can use nonporous tape, like gorilla tape or duck tape, to patch up the excess holes.  Once you have the right amount, you'll still need to fan and mist often. Cobweb can happen due to lack of FAE and excess moisture in any environment.
In a bottle, you'll get fruits, but where you could get 3-7g dry in an ideal environment, you'll get far far less, and risk contams at every turn.
If you insist on using a bottle, cut the top 1/3 off, and make a cut up the top part's side so it can be put back on the bottom part.  Then fan and mist by removing the top part, then replace. You'll want to fan at least once every 2 hours or so.

Yeah treat it like a normal sgfc, as long as u crafted it somewhat well youll get some extra mushies, while you wait for them to grow, save up money and meander through the sgfc teks to keep a clear mind until you can build the real thing....theres nothing wrong with expiriments, i just dont post them cuz theres always negative naysayers... no offense to any fellow posters :peace:
