Well Joie shooting me down too. :P

But seriously? Those are more than just pale brown, they look white. Everything I've been told is a lie?

Don't worry about it! I'm just trying to learn and to me those screamed libs to me!

Sterile is plausible as well. I am calling them libs for the sticky caps with the nipple and inturned margin, the bendy stems and the colouration. I don't know any non-Psilocybe that does all that but please yourself and by all means be cautious.

I totally agree that those are libs , I'm no T.I but I know a lib when I see one .I hoped by posting the link that peeps would see that Libs come in different shapes and sizes .

THanks Joie - reassuring that the boxes you ticked matched all the things I would look for with libs.

If they are 'imposters' as I call them, then they are literally the best i have encounteres. Normally by touch and the feel of the mushroom alone I can tell if it's a lib

Those are sterile Libs.

Sterility in mushrooms can change them dramatically.

I found these today, are any of them active? *Crosses fingers*

Two on right and in hand appear to have brused blue/purple, awaiting spoor test, browny skinny stems and brown gills with light edges.

No libs there mate :frown:
To me the stems look too frail and flimsy on all of them - a dead giveaway. Eyes down again tomorrow

Just checking in from Lancashire...been out today - very little doing seemingly.

I did find three 'lookalikes' though. Can anyone ID these - they were mentioned in Murmurp's earlier post - found in excatly the same habitat as described.

Is it possible that these are sterile libs? I'm a bit suspicious of them as I only found 2 others the whole time I was out.
THey do however look the right shape, there is a bit of a nipple, and the stems are tough like the libe.

Anyway if anyone can shed any light that would be great

Check for bluing near the base on steriles, i think i can see some on the left one where it's frayed near the bottom. What's weird to me about those is that they're drying from the bottom up, maybe they dried from the top down but left out the nipple, just found this in the docs gallery.

Nice finds anyway.

Right as the many dedicated peeps are head out the their chosen spots we should have a comp for the largest nipped magic monster or best dense patch or just plain ugly shroom.

What do you think guys.

Hi all. I found 9 caps in the lake district on Monday whilst on holiday, hoping to go to the peak district this weekend to find some more.  How do you think all this rain will effect yields this year? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19427139

Yes, it's sterile libs. Very rare, like 0.1% I have only found them a couple of times. One time all the libs in one patch of grass was sterile
